As I've been playing more games of different sizes, I've noticed that the core objectives don't scale with game size, and that can lead to radically different gameplay at different point values. Whether you play 1000 or 2500, you still have 1 objective in each persons deployment zone when you roll up "Emperor's Will". However, the game is markedly different, at 2.5k you're probably giving up on getting that objective and just trying to table your opponent vs at 1k you might try to outflank or something. The Scouring at low point values can be a mad dash of grabbing objectives while ignoring the enemy at low point values, as can maelstrom while at higher point values taking and holding becomes more viable. I understand that different point values give different experiences, and everyone has their preferences; but I think that at low and high point extremes the objectives can be a bit off. My idea was as simple as turning the "D3" rolls into "1 objective for every 1000 points" and/or scaling the fixed number objectives based on army size (1/side per 1000 pts for emperors will, 1/500 pts for scouring, etc). Maybe something similar for maelstrom as well.
Just a thought, any others?
