Hey Dakkanoughts, I've decided to treat myself to one of the two units in the title and would like advice from players who've used either of them to sway me.

My opponents are flavours of marines, Tau and Necrons. The sicaran is a beautiful tank, but I rarely face anything in the way of skimmers whereas three plasma cannon shots without gets hot sound beautiful for the armies I find myself playing against.

Any advice or thoughts are appreciated.

Do the Necron or SM armies field flyers often? The sicaran can get a legacy to give it skyfire. It is pretty effective. Personally I love the sicaran model and rules. I would always recommend it over nearly any other SM model.

For your needs it would really come down to whether vehicles or infantry are a threat. The legacies will also change things a lot. Btw have you thought of a scorpius whirlwind?

One of my marine friends uses a stormtalon and my GK friend has a stormraven, but there's no flyer spam in my local group.

The Scorpius was my first choice but was disheartened to find out Chaos marines don't get to use it at all, unfortunately. I think you might be suggesting the loyalist versions, since I don't recall a skyfire legacy in IA:13.

I have a Sicaran in the list with Lascannon Sponsons, and a predator with the plasma turret and heavy bolters.

The heavy bolters and plasma plinked away at kroot in cover all game and the Sicaran slayed devilfish and piranhas that tried to glance/pop my Rhinos. The Sicaran was trusted with a variety of tasks and performed well, while the Predator was forced to choose a target and only engage that one unit each turn to make the most out of its fire. Hooray, I killed 2 models because they went to ground.. Terminators in the open would hate the plasma pred but its situational of course.

If you could just have one... I would go with Sicaran. We have oblits/Psychic Shriek on psykers for killing stuff that plasma would target. A fast vehicle with lascannons and the accelerator cannon is no joke for the cost. Compare it to a Forgefiend. The Sicaran might be locked into one turret weapon, but it is at least balanced and rending with a good rate of fire. The predator is great but I simply cannot comment further on it because its weapon load out depends on specific variables only found in your group and not mine.

I think the OP wants a chaos tank. Whirlwind Scorpius isn't available to Chaos. The Legacies of Glory for chaos also do not give the tanks Skyfire, tank Hunter or ignores cover. Only the loyalists Legacy's do that.

Thanks for the advice so far. Like i said, my area is light on skimmers, There's a necron player who's more infantry inclined and a tau player with one pirahna, so I think the sicaran may be wasted.

Does chaos have access to an equivalent of the Deimos Predator? Because the plasma variant of that is a cheap and effective tank.

Pretty sure the deimos predator is the relic predator, from what I can gather from the model and some googling. 3 plasma blasts seems pretty sexy for me.
