I recently acquired a large force of Dark Eldar and with the new Harlequin release, I couldn't help myself. Everything is painted to a tabletop standard, so don't expect to see anything even remotely close to commission quality. I am open to feedback but I find it hard to keep motivated so I am most open to fast, easy techniques if they will help me improve.

Apologies for the picture quality as well, I prefer to take shots outdoors to help my camera compensate for poor lighting, but it's cold right now.

This the the first painted troupe. Have not come up with a Masque name or background yet.

As for the Kabal itself, I have more painted, I just need better photos, so more to come. For now, here is a painted Raider.

Hope you enjoy! I'll post up more over the next few days and post up the fluff I fleshed out as well.

Bought 3 starweaver boxes, and got all 3 built and 2 painted already! Also bought another troupe, so now I can field a full masque

1 solitaire
3 troupes
2 starweavers
1 voidweaver

Anywho, here's my speedpainted, tabletop quality starweaver (again, apologies for the poor lighting)

View from the front to show the angled lines (I used frogtape)

Here's the voidweaver completed with the green angled across the body (sorry, not very visible at this angle, will shoot another tomorrow). I magnetized the rear shuriken cannon so I can take it off for storage since it's held in place with the tiniest joint possible (thanks for nothing, GW).

I will be finishing up my second troupe and getting the third painted hopefully before Friday so I can start on my new death jester and shadowseers.

New record for me: built, primed and painted a model in under 24 hours! Here's a completed Death Jester and the Solitaire I painted a few weeks ago but forgot to take pics of.

I took photos of my painted Dark Eldar that I finished a while ago.

First up are 2 reavers I got painted up. Orange is a really hard color to paint well. The bases were made by the previous owner, and I really like them painted up. Thankfully, there's enough prebuilt to cover all my reavers, because I do not have the patience to create more.

Here's 2 of my Venoms finished up.

My first of 2 Ravagers fully painted:

And finally, my first "unit" of Kabalite Warriors. Super speedy paint as they rarely hit the table, and when they do, they die pretty fast.

Shadowseer painted! This is my most prodigious painting spree ever.

Looks good man. Like the color scheme. I would consider some highlights on the blacks if possible. they are very flat. Keep it up!

Thank you for the kind words and the advice. There is a highlight of dark grey that is totally invisible due to poor lighting in the photos. I do think a lighter shade of grey lightly brushed on top of that would add a lot of depth and will have to try that.

Nice - they look like The Veiled Path (which happen to be my favorite given their tendency to mislead folks).

Try Gw eshin grey. I find it to be an excellent grey for highlighting black.

Good job btw!

Thank you, I drew color inspiration from that Masque. I bought all the White Dwarf magazines to help me decide how to paint my Masque and they were the only scheme I really liked.

The highlight that I did that isn't very visible is done with a light drybrush of Mechanicus Standard Grey. I will definitely pick up a pot of Eshin Grey per your recommendation as it's a layer paint vs the base I've been using. Thanks for the recommendation!

Just bought and repainted a classic Death Jester on ebay today.

Excellent. I'm impressed by your speed and dedication- I saw this thread a couple days ago and it had a fraction of the models done this one shows. Good job.

Also a big fan of the old death jester. Yours is much cleaner than the before picture.

I agree about putting a little highlighting into the blacks. I recommend "Eshin Grey" as it adds a subtle highlight instead of those harsh ones created with "Dawnstone".

Last- great bases. They make the model pop.

Here are some shots of a Dais of Destruction/possible future Tantalus. I got this model as it currently is from the previous owner who used it as the Dais of Destruction in the last edition. One of the engines and one of the blades on the back fell off and a few sails snapped off. This is a back burner project for me as I am still trying to justify a use for a Tantalus but it is a pretty cool model minus a few odd design choices (lots and lots of engines for one)

Apparently the "outriggers" were Forgeworld pieces, but I have no idea what kit they were from. If anyone has any advice on what I should do with this thing, feel free to comment.

I finished up a few Harlequin Troupes that are now ready to deploy to the battlefield.

This is the Light Troupe, complete with Starweaver and Shadowseer.

This is the Dark Troupe, along with the Venom they ride in. I will eventually buy and paint a Starweaver and Shadowseer for them, but for now, this is both thematic and allows me to run my minimum Masque requirement.

Finally, here is the supporting cast. The Death Jesters will share a Venom with an Archon that is wearing -2LD armor. They will have a good laugh as they turn infantry to crimson splatters and tell them where to run. The Solitaire will do Solitare things. I buy a Venom for him as well.

I will likely grab a third Jester and eventually some bikes, even though I think they are of dubious value, just so I can run the mega-formation for re-rollable 1s.

I still need to paint 1 player and the Shadowseer for the Twilight Troupe and paint their Starweaver. Hopefully I will have this done by next weekend.

Been a bit since an update due to some family stuffs (in-law stuffs on top of that. Seriously, sort your life out!)

Regardless, I got the rest of the troupe and their starweaver painted! I split it down the middle due to the duality and transitive nature of this troupe.

Here's a shot of the troupe and their whip.

I have a pair of starweavers left and that's it for now!

I'm starting to get an itch to paint up some Farsight Enclaves suits so I can run a Harlequins/Tau list next. If I do so, I will be updating the thread title to just simply state that this will be my "generic" 40k thread.

Everything looks to be in order and good, I'd just like to see some better pictures. Brighter lighting, and less cat tree/background stuff.

I completely agree that my photo quality is absolute garbage. Hot, nasty garbage. I'm going to spend some time tomorrow attempting to build a lightbox to remedy this and redo my pictures by next week some time.

In the meantime, I did get my first Skyweaver painted. I did pick up a pot of Eshin Grey as recommended, and it turned out even harder to read than my previous method. Again, not for lack of results, just terrible photo quality. Much easier to apply than my previous method, though!

I am going to grab 1 more box of these guys, a final Starweaver and one more each of a DJ and SS, then I'm done done done with harlequins.

You might as well use it as a Tantalus because that's what those "outriggers" are from.

Have a look for yourself: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Dark_Eldar/DARK-ELDAR-TANTALUS.html

So I built a cheap little light box and took a couple test snaps. Didn't seem to turnout very well... I think I need stronger lighting and/or two sources of side lighting. What do you think? Better, worse, or other?
