I like the PS platform but one major aspect that pisses me off is the lack of backwards compatibility. The first gen PS3 could run the older PS2 games but with later generations they decided to axe that option which was quite annoying as the system could easily handle is. When PS4 released they said they wouldn't be backwards compatible citing issues with the coding older games taking too much computing power and causing the system to overheat, which of course was a steaming load of horsecrap. Now they've rolled out streaming game services that are choke full of all the PS# games that the system supposedly can't handle. No option to buy them either, you have to rent them exclusively as streaming format which has a 90 day period at maximum. I like the PS systems but this is just an unabashed grab for money. The money squeeze is also compounded by the need to subscribe to PSNetwork to play multiplayer and needing season passes for a number of games, considering all of the PS game servers were previously free to use it's a bit sickening. I have a hard enough time finding a game title worth $60, and now if I do manage to find a game I like I better be prepared to drop twice that or more when I consider you need the PSN subscription. I miss when you could simply buy a game and play it as a complete product without having your wallet further looted at every turn by the combination of DLC and service fees. I think from here out it'll be PC games for me. The PS4 online capability, upconverter for DVD and streaming is really nice as it enhances the image quality amazingly well so it'll remain part of my entertainment set up but trying to use it for gaming just isn't worthwhile IMO.
