Combined Arms Detachment - No Decurion nonsense
[HQ]
Orikan The Diviner
Crptek
+ The Solar Staff
[ELITES]
10 Lychguard w/ Warscythes
+Nightscythe DT
1 Triarch Stalker
[TROOPS]
10x Warriors
+ Ghost Ark
10x Warriors
+Ghost Ark
[Fast Attack]
6 Wraiths
+ 6 Whip Coils
[Heavy Support]
Annhiliation Barge x 2
3x Heavy Destroyers
(1848 pts.)
TACTICS: Orikan and the Cryptek join the Lychguard in the Nightscythe. Triarch Stalker stays near the 3x heavy destroyers (they now hit on 2's, reroll 1's). Ghost arks contest objectives and shoot whatever they can, anni barges can do the same. Wraiths run up field to either force focus on to them or murder things freely. The turn that the Nightscythe arrives pop the Solar Staff and disembark your lychguard right in the face of the opponent, they now have to snapfire at them, and regardless you still have an armor/invul save, rerolling 1's from orikan and 4+ RP. They are tough to bring down, and next turn they can charge and kill anything they want. I played a test game today against my friends CSM and the game was over at turn 3, the only thing I had lost was 2 HP's on one of my Ghost Arks, 2 Lychguard, and 2 Wraiths. Seems to be a pretty strong list.
Thoughts? You think it could be effective in a tournament setting as well? I've never done tournaments and now that I have a fully painted army I am somewhat thinking about it. I usually only play my two friends and they are both space marine type armies (CSM and Space Wolves). What would make it stronger?

I don't think your lycheguard unit has any invulnerable saves so you'll have to rely heavily on the solar staff and RP. I like the idea though. A very balanced list.

You could give the Cryptek a Chronometron to give them a 5+ versus shooting.

Thank you! And I forgot to add to my list that I had given my cryptek a phase shifter because I just had the extra points, so I can just drop that and give him a chronometron, perfect!

I would replace the lyche guard with pretorians w staff of the covenant. They can shoot turn one, are fearless so no sweeping advance and ap2 in melee.

Lychguard are awesome but I don't think your setup maximizes the threat.
Cryptek needs a chronimetron first of all. Second, nightsythe is a horrible CC delivery system as at best you'rd looking at a turn three charged (and you don't want that many points sitting in reserve with bad rolls). Veil of darkness in the other hand allows for turn 2 charge. So my suggestion is drop orankir who adds nothing to the squad and get either a CC character with the veil (olord or Doors) or obyron with his ghost walk.

I forgot to mention the pretorians will give you a hammer of wrath attack if you charge in the next turn. I agree with the night scythe comment. It is better to put them with a cryptek who has veil of darkness equipped but then you can't have the solar staff as well. Chances are with the crometron equipped they will still be there turn two. 3+/5++ & 4+rp.
