Hey guys.
I'm trying to figure out how to paint these resin bases i am trying out. I'm looking to get some paint in the runes on the rocks and give it a bit of a neon effect but i cant really find a guide on how to do this, nor can i think of what color to use to off set the power weapons which will be kind of the standard blue/white as this is a grey knights army. I was looking for any ideas or links for the bases you guys might have.
Here are the bases i've procured

http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=79_30_53&products_id=205

and here is my test item for the army. It is still in the works and lacking details and highlights/washes but the main colors are in place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I love those bases

The thing you need to do when working on bases is to pick colors that provides some contrast with the model, but not colors that are too distinct that draw attention away from the model.

The natural colors of the Runic Mountain bases are browns and greys (because we're talking about rock). I would avoid the greys, because they'll just blend in with your models. Therefore, I would pick colors similar to what GW uses for their generic bases -- the light tan.

The formula for the generic GW "brown sand" bases, I believe is -- basecoat Zandri Dust, wash Agrax, drybrush Tyrant Skull, drybrush Pallid Wych; base ring of Steel Legion Drab.

Allso a tuft or two would really spruce them up. I might try dark green (swampland) or white tufts from army painter. If they aren't by a rock or some other large object, I'd trim them down a bit.

Okay, i could maybe try a sand color and green dry brush on the black grey parts, but that might wash out the natural rock colors. I've got some metallic paints that might work for the inlay, a violet, blue and a red. I'm thinking the violet might off set everything else to much.

I'll try the shrubs though to be honest I'm not very good with them. The little glue piece that holds them together always ends up visible.
