Hi all!

It's been maybe a year or two since I've played one of my favorite games... Eve Online. I'd probably play still if it weren't for the subscription fees. Plus I never was good at earning Plex.

Any suggestions as far as getting a similar experience without subscription fees?

I've got X Rebirth and it looks kind of like what I'm looking for... I'll probably try it tonight...

but looking to see if anyone out there might have some other suggestions since I hear the X: Rebirth is kind of buggy.

Nope, Eve is pretty much one of a kind and impossible to unseat.

There is Star Citizen but that one ain't out yet.

Elite: Dangerous too I guess

There's a multiplayer mode in it. I've not played the game, but well, Elite is basically the original space sim, after all.

Looked at some videos of 'Elite: Dangerous' and 'X Rebirth'... so far its looking like I'll be biting the bullet and going for another sub to Eve when I'm better financially situated. In the mean time, I'll try my copy of 'X Rebirth'... maybe it was just coincidence that the videos I watched were mostly of combat. I'm not saying I mind the space combat, but it would have been nice to see some non-combat stuff too.

Historically, Elite has always been FAR more about exploring and trading than any space combat though.

It is, I'm just a space trucker/miner making money so I can buy a big feth off ship.

Elite and SC really cannot be compared to Eve.

It is like comparing all Command & Conquer games to Call of Duty because Command & Conquer: Renegade was made.

Elite and SC are twitch based flight simulators, Eve is the everlasting sandbox.


Stay away from trying to sub with PLEX, you will suck all of the fun out of your gaming experience. They do have sub deals, that's how I got both of my accounts paying $8/month each for a year.

Yeah I used to do one of those yearly subscriptions to the game... I might go that route again...
