Subject: How do you deal with Whisper?

Now that we have jumped headlong into X-Wing, we are finding it very difficult for rebels to beat anything with a mini swarm alongside it. Yesterday the task got even more difficult as whisper showed up to replace the high PS ship that normally flew with the swarm.
If played right (which really is not very difficult), I see very few ways of taking out whisper without wasting all of your firepower in the process. With the advanced cloaking device she is sure to always have a cloak on her with an option of an evade token.
How do you take her out and still have a reasonable chance of facing the other ships?
What would be good against Whisper with Advanced Cloaking Device and a mini swarm?
What do you feel about Leebo (Outrider, HLC, recon specialist) rolling with 3 prototype pilots?

High PS ships with turrets are the best option IMO. You can also try to position ships to block decloak lanes, doesn't really help you hit them, but limits their mobility.
Auto blasters seem like a good choice, but the phantom is slippery enough to avoid range one most times.
And if you can stress them, you'll be in good shape.

As I understand it, Whisper lists produced the Dash + Corran list.

I've defeated Whisper with Whisper, Corran, and Dash.
Just remember, green dice are fickle and will betray you. In a tournament last week, I one-shotted a cloaked Whisper (it isn't the first time I've done it either).

1) Fat Dash/fat Han to ignore the phantom's maneuverability and shoot before it cloaks (or with PTL Dash just hit it with a HLC even when it cloaks).
2) Roark to boost whichever ship has Whisper in arc to PS 12 and let them shoot before Whisper can re-cloak, potentially with R3-A2 or flechette torps to add some stress and stop the re-cloak.
3) Maneuverable PS 9+ ships (Tycho, Wedge with engine upgrade, etc) that can boost/barrel roll after Whisper moves to line up a shot and then shoot first before Whisper can re-cloak, also potentially with stress.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |
