Space Marine Scout with Sniper Rifle

Hello,

I post here my second SP squad I have ever painted so you can c&c to help me improve.

I have spend a lot of hours on it (didn't count but at least 20h ) for a result I guess is OK but disappointing for the time spent.

I've already though of several improvement points :
- Don't be hasty and don't forget to thin/stir the paint
- Thin the washes
- Practice

Anyway, I enjoyed painting them and it is what matters (and I am pretty happy with the result of the base )

Thanks

Into the fires of battle brother!

Looks nice, only comment I can make is to maybe darken up that axe to be a bit more realistic. Nuln or duruchi violet might do it justice. Just a thought.

Your paints are not thin enough. Needs more wash.

i both like and dislike that you painted the base edges... i think having a black band looks much more crisp as a 'frame' of the model, however you did a great job, and i can see the appeal of an "infinity edge" style on the tabletop.

I used Dryychi violet undiluted. And I haven't try to highlight it. Guilliman blue on metal is a good idea. I take note

I am thinking about my future diorama for some time and I got a little bored with those models so I was lazy to paint the edge (And also afraid to mess up the separation between black and lava).

Thanks for your comments

Love it. Excellent clean paint job, man. Love the green.

I have to say, I agree with the others about the power axe. It's just not the same clean-ness you've got with the other models so it's kind of jarring.

A really neat effect I think looks doubly great for Salamanders is a molten power weapon look. Stick with a dark purple for the base color, then do streaks kind of like what you've got there, just that break in spots, utilizing a red, orange, and yellow.

*spends 15 minutes tracking through old photobucket images to find an example*

Here we go. I'd done it before on Prince Yriel for a friend. (Full image 1) (Full Image 2) (Close up of just the weapon)
