You first have to ask yourself, and present to us, if you are a patient or aggressive player? Do you like to shoot from range or do you like to push is your opponents face with a swift boot kick? Do you enjoy the horde mentality or elite units? Please give us some insight into what you have liked about fantasy and what has interested you in 40k to date. Then we can make some suggestions that will feed your interest or addiction as many of us have come to know it.
Personally as a 40K Ork player since 1990, I have my preferences as do others and we are always happy to help out a new player with ideas.
First of all, you will need more boys. If you are playing 1500 and above, you still need to consider having units of 20--30 for foot sloggers, and 10-12 for trukk boys. Deciding if you need more slugga or shoota boys can be answered with some of the questions above. I do find that a key unit that I just cannot get away from is 10 Lootas. Great range, great strength, lots of shots, and great at killing light vehicles and wounding almost anything they hit.

Lootas and Nobs are a must. Fortunately, when you buy the boyz boxes, they come with tons of spare bitz, including some sweet stuff to make several other units (tankbustas, kommandos, etc).
Without knowing how you like to play, its tough to reccommend much other than to get more bodies. I suggest you try playing a few games, using proxies and such, to get a feel of what you like before you buy. I have a bunch of burna boys I thought would be sweet, but nah, I never run them.

Ok well I think its the Orky thing to do to have mostly 'smash em up' playstyle however ive seen battle reports and watched a few games where the orks had Looted Wagons, Lootas combo to cover the mob running up the board. Also I'm going to be collecting many models so any suggestions are great! One more thing to mention is I know im going to need more boys all around but was also wondering what Elite units suit the mob of slugga boys

If you wanna footslog, then Kommandos may not be bad, to draw fire from your enemies while the others move up the board. When it comes to Elites for orks though, they need to be mounted. With such terrible armor, any elites that dont start in a transport are going to be singled out and eliminated.

I agree with Bossmakk, if you have Elite units, you have to figure a way to protect them Vehicles are a great way to do it. I for one feel that Tank Bustas are probably first on my list for Elite, and Nobs close 2nd, and Mega Nobs 3rd. You want to get Elites where they need to be, truck or battle wagons. If you make them mobile, then you have to have other mobility units to support them. one or two vehicles mean one or two dead vehicles as they become primary targets.
If you are going foot slogging for boys, then nothing less than 20 orks per unit, more like 30 when ever possible. If you do this, you will want to find a way to get some Painboys into each mob to get the FNP. A spare Mek will also give you a disposible character for challenges.
Gretchin, I am hard pressed to not have a list with a unit of 10. they are short and easy to hide. they grab objectives and sit on them. They are often ignored until the end game. You can use units to act as cover save screens for your foot troop mobs as well.
Bike mobs or Nob bike mobs are still a blast.
I find that a Mek with KFF nearly always finds its way into any list that I have. again, to help with the fact of lack of armour.
play test with proxy figures is a great way to make a final decision.

Awesome thanks for the replies. A KFF ive heard is almost a must when footslogging and I love the advice so far. Now what if I were to make a more 'tactical' (for Orks haha xD) shooty army what (if any) are good choices for shooting? Even if it's just for covering fire any ideas?
