I was wondering if Rustoleum's dark green self etching primer will work for Mini's? If not could you suggest another primer that I can buy at Walmart? Thank you.

In general, Rustoleum is very, very thick. That particular color and type, I dont know for sure, but in general, it is. Might not be the best choice.

However, Krylon is excellent.

I'm not sure about the "self etching" variety, but I've used Rustoleum and Krylon Camoflage spray paints and primers on minis for years. Lots of shades of green, grey and brown in those lines. A big portion of the sci-fi figs, terrain and vehicles I do now are basecoated and primed in one step with these sprays. However for terrain I primarily use Krylon because it has the "fusion" tech that allows it to adhere to soft polyethylene plastics that many of the toys I use in terrain are made of.

The only thing to remember is that sometimes these sprays come out pretty fast, so as always, quick, light coats are the way to go to make sure you don't over spray. If you're worried about that, just have a jar of mineral spirits (if Walmart doesn't have it, home depot or menards will) nearby that you can toss a fig into (while still wet) if you spray too heavy.
