So the main idea of this list is to tag team ships with Wes and Farlander. Remove tokens for opportunist boost.

The other option I was tossing around is taking an outer rim smuggler instead of the tala's and torpedos....

Farlander with opportunist is not worth it unless you have a HLC, and even then it's kind of questionable. You can spend four points to get an extra attack die in some situations, which usually requires spending even more points to set up those situations. Or you could spend three more points and get an extra attack die every turn no matter what the rest of your list is doing or what target you're shooting at.

Wes is awesome, especially with VI but... I've never really been too convinced he fits best in normal 100 point games. He seems to come into his own more in 200 point + matches, where the odds of running into big nasty things is high.

There's nothing that annoys an Imperial player with a loaded up Colonel Rhymer than you torp-blocking him every single turn until he's dead by removing his target log.

Yes, I said torp-blocking.

Hm the original question was Talas or Outer Rim Smuggler. As much as I love smugglers, looking at it objectively:

The Talas each have 3 better pilot skill
you double your firepower
you gain an action
have a quadrupled chance to dodge attacks
have the same number of shields
have two less hull
you lose (irrelevant) upgrade slots
you lose turret, but gain an extra primary firing arc

To say nothing of maneuverability, I think the Talas are the obvious choice. They're just so much more efficient.

Played both builds and like the outer rim smuggler. It's a good blocking ship to deny actions. Wes and Farlander works pretty slick.
