So far ive read books 1-5

I then skipped all the way to book 19 "Know No Fear"

I just finished "Unremembered Empire", it was recommenbed to me as a book to finish after "Know No Fear" but I feel I might have missed something in between those two.

I'm very interested and curious to see what happens or follows the events of "UE"

So which book should I get a hold of next?

I believe Scars by Chris Wraight is the next chronologically, not 100% though just finished False Gods

Unremembered Empire makes you almost up to date in terms of that story line.

This site has all the books, including audio dramas and novellas and such.

Vengeful Spirit and Sedition's Gate came out in 2014 and I have not read them yet.

However, I would also suggest going back and reading some of the other books--they're good, and some of them like "Thousand Sons", "Mechanicum", "Legion" and "Prospero Burns" (not to mention "Angel Exterminatus" which is excellent) are pretty key to plot of the whole Heresy.

But here's a shot of the books in their "original order" at least up to #20.

Unremembered Empire and Vengeful Spirit are basically the most "current points" of the storyline, though they're unrelated plot threads (UM and DA vs Horus & Company). I don't really recommend Vengeful Spirit. It's pretty poor. And while there's some argument it might be "important" down the line, honestly, there's a lot of filler in that novel to get to that last scene that's the only relevant part of the novel, lol.

There's nothing really "between" KNF and UE. Fear To Tread sits in there, in the sense that it leads into the ending of UE, but it's not really required reading either. Mark of Calth also has some stories that feed into UE, but only tangentially.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I quite liked Vengeful Spirit, although I know the general consensus is that it's pretty meh. I agree with pantheralegionnaire, there's some good (and key) books between book 5 and book 19, and there isn't much after UE chronologically yet. I would read Scars though. I'm rereading it now and I love it.
