so trying for competitive but avoiding the flyrant spam. Still gonna take two flyrant because I love 2 flyrants, but more is a bit over-cheezy, especially if going towards 5 or more. here it is 70 1x Aegis defense Iine / Comm Relay 240 1x Flyrant / 2x TL Devourer BLW / EGrub 240 1x Flyrant / 2x TL Devourer BLW / EGrub 75 15x Hormagaunts 75 15x Hormagaunts 15 1x Mucolid spore 15 1x Mucolid spore 15 1x Mucolid spore 15 1x Mucolid spore 170 2x Malanthrope 50 1x Zoanthrope 50 1x Zoanthrope 300 2x Carnifexes / 2x TL Devourer BLW 140 1x Mawloc 140 1x Mawloc Living artillery node 170 1x Exocrine 120 3x Biovores 100 3x Tyranid Warriors / Barbed Strangler total 2000pts Tons of units on the board, 17 to be precise and a lot of them aren't tiny either. Hormagaunts to screen my dudes on the ground, since they run fast they ont slow down the rest of the army to do their job of screening, also for some Objective secure. Malanthropes to give shrouding and taking 2 of them to make sure the opponent needs to sacrifice a lot of firepower if he wants to terminate the shrouding. Zoans for more synapse and psykers, hopefully getting some catalyst to give the 2 carnifex FnP or maybe Onslaught. The Aegis defense line to make sure the Mawlocs and Mucolid spore come out right away (who should become heavy distractors) and also to protect the Biovores and warriors who willl most likely stay in the back, gives me the option to turtle behind the lines if thats what I feel I need to do as well. Flyrants do their thing it actually has very decent shooting with the 4 Devourers, 3 biovores, warriors barbed strangler and exocrine shooting, the mawlocs also have a blast which is kindof like shooting. has a lot of diversity of units which I really like. seems pretty decent, what do you guys think?

I kinda Like it.  I haven't used Mucolids, are they as good as they say?
While I see why you did it, I would have run a SkyTyrant for my Formation. If for no other reason than being able to use my beloved Winged Assassin.  I'm guessing the LAN snugs up behind the Aegis? if so I don't see what the primary function of the second Hormie Brood is? Speed is nice, but you should consider a Brood of Termagants if they aren't needed for screen duties.

Haven't used mucolids either but their stats are really nice, and being troops on top is amazing, I see them as distraction units more then anything and they're very cheap. nobody wants to risk a str8 ap3 large blast hitting them and since they alreay have shrounding on top of three wounds they can take some minor shooting without dying so the opponents needs to dedicate some shooting to take them out.
the hormagaunts are also there for objective secure puposes and to bring more bodies to the floor, a single unit of 15 can get taken out really easily for many armies but 30 takes a lot more out of him.

Yeah they totally rawk for grabbing an Objective, but their IB is an "issue"  And once you grab, having Overwatch is handy. If you can let me know how this plays.

True, IB can be an issue but if anything its less of an issue as the termagaunts since the termagaunts will likely flee the board completely whereas the hormagaunts will only kill half of itself. Im hoping to avoid IB by having lots of synapse. 2 flyrants, 2 malanthropes, 2 zoanthropes and 1 warrior brood is pretty solid for synapse.

True, even by my standards...that is 7 turns worth of Synapse.  I have been seriously wondering if running a base " CAD" of Leviathan is viable, re-rolling IB makes it a lot less scarey. But I'd have to give up OS...I just dunno...

In Maelstrom, Hormies are great for grabbers since they only have to be there end of your turn.
In Eternal War, yeah, not having overwatch or some kind of shooting combined with the IB makes them less appealing.
