I want to put names across the front of my Mordheim Bases (For quick identification), but my freehand is frankly terrible. Is there any way to do it non-freehand, using waterslide or just gluing paper on or something?

Yup, both of those will work. Square bases are super easy, with round beveled bases you have to skew and curve the font to make it readable.
Maybe take a look at Letrasets too, I've used those in the past to good effect.

Also you could just write on the bases with a fine tipped permanent pen.
Or practice your freehand, it's the only way you'll get better!

Print out what you want written there on normal paper
Get some transfer paper (tracing paper)
Trace it onto the base
Paint within your tracing

Boom, perfect freehand
