I bought a set of necron warriors, a lord, and a destroyer lord on ebay. They have minimal paint, which isn't a problem, it comes off easy peasy, when I use simple green.

The issue is, they have a dull red primer, which is on the entire model (including the green gauss rod!!) that I want to remove. I bought simple green from walmart, in a 32 oz spray bottle. I've left them in since saturday night, and no joy on the models. It's weakened the glue (I have two models have come off the bases, and one who's arm came off, but no luck on the actual primer. I wouldn't care, but I prefer the original gauss look, and it won't come off.

I'm gonna try la's awesome, if I can find it, any other suggestions? I live in the US, east coast.

LA's can be bought at dollar stores.

I'm willing to bet money that it will do the job.

Unfortunately it seems like primers usually stain the plastic, but if you can get it mostly clean, a reprime won't mess up the model, as long as you don't lay it on really thick.

As far as the green rods go, you can get a ton of colored rods from EBay fairly cheaply, in whatever color you want. Like, enough for 100 models for 4-5 bucks. I don't know that you'll ever be able to get them back to normal, since they're translucent.

Ispropyl alcohol gets most stubborn primers I've encountered off from plastic figures no worries.

Staining the plastic is nonsense, Never had one do that yet. ~ I have had some with stubborn primer that comes off with hard work. And I've seen one with primer that needs a harsher chemical to strip than the plastic can bear. but never actually stained plastic.

May I ask where you found these cheap rods, all the ones I saw were about 1$ apiece.
