i have always played space marines and whilst looking at the forge world website i thought it is actually very annoying that games workshop don't give you much variation in armour marks, for instance the only way you can get a mark4 helmet is in the vanguard squad and there are barely any of the mark 5 legs with the studs even though when you look at the second company ultramarines games workshop artwork there are 1 of those pairs of legs for every 7 marines. furthermore there aren't any mark1,2 or 3 helmets for space marines and the variation of torso and legs also frustrates me, i admit the newest version of the tactical squad does have a few marks of torso such as mark 6 body and legs but i feel they could do more.

enough of my complaining the real point of this thread is to ask your opinion on the matter? do you think games workshop should put more variation in their space marine armour marks?
happy posting

I... actually don't know. Help?

Why would anyone want Mark 1 armour on their marines?

This Is Where the Fish Lives

Older marks of armor are more rare, hence why they aren't as common.

Forge World sells entire squads of all of the older marks at a somewhat decent price.

And there are rumours from a couple of very reliable sources that a plastic 30k/older Mk armour set is coming from GW this year, which would have all the parts you want.

Think of it like this: If they would include all marks of armour in a Tactical Squad kit, it would coust as much as, say a Land Raider.

i see what you mean matthew but surely it wouldn't hurt to just include lets say 1 mark3 and a mk4 helmet and a pair of mk5 legs? one thing that i definitely think they should include one or two of the rogue trader style bolters and at least one more studded shoulder pad per tactical squad. and remember the different types of armour could be spread across tactical, assault, command and dev squads. i am looking at buying a mk2 forge world squad but i wouldn't need to if gw where just a little more generous in their kits (yeah, i know gw are rarely generous with anything) there is also a company (i cant remember what it is called at the moment ) that do ten man squads of s
'strike armour' which looks quite a bit like mark3 or four armour.

p.s. i am looking forward to seeing the new kits if they do come out

i do mix and match my kits, i have enough spares to build 30 marines of all different releases of kits with bits left over so whenever i make a squad i take bitz out of there

another thing i noticed is that they don't even do the back packs that were used in the rogue trader era, it would be nice if they could supply maybe 1 every tactical squad and maybe a mark 2 or 3 backpack in an assault (yeah i know they use jump packs but why not an old style jump pack or just a regular mark 3 back pack as they do supply normal back packs as well in assault squads) or devastator squad
