melta bombs have no range and are unwieldy makeing the initiative one, why else would that be so unless you could use them in close combat, unless you can only use in close combat against stuff like dreads that can also have an assault phase. has any one figured this out yet?

Well you can use grenades why would you not be able to use Melta bombs :-P granted the idea of trying to strap a melta bomb to a target that is actively swinging a sword at you seems a bit far fetched.

Read the rules for grenades. in close combat they can only be used if fighting MCs and Vehicles.
Meltabombs are a type of grenade. Just one that doens't have a shooting profile.

But they are Monstrous Creatures, which you can use grenades against in CC. They don't work on Obliterators as those are Infantry.
{Edit} Ah, I may have misunderstood what you meant. I thought the OP meant Meltabombs, and you're on about the Melta rule?

Yeah, I did, and it seemed to me he was referring to Meltabombs, which he can use against Wraithknights. krissy40kaos wrote:sweeet thank you, i wasnt sure because for a seccond it seemed like, " oh wow i can take a str 8, ap1 ccw for 5 points why would i ever take any thing else lol. so obv had to ask, seems perfect for taking out csm like oblits and what not. would eldar wraith knights be considered for melta?

Assault
Unless used in assaults against vehicles, gun emplacements or Monstrous Creatures, melta bombs have no effect. When used in assaults against vehicles, buildings, gun emplacements or Monstrous Creatures, melta bombs have the following profile
right there in the rule book plane as day... all i had to do is type ctrl f . and type melta bomb lol.. i shouldnt breed...
and the reason i mention wraith knights and oblits and w.e. the grey knights mech lookin thing is, is because thats what my close friends play, eldar, csm, gk and im trying to find w.e. extra cheeze i can throw at them to even hold a match to them.
and as for oblits, cmon now lol they are giants of twisted metel n flesh if i were a lowely cultist id call the dang thing a monster and a creature, but they define it as daemon so...

Oblitz are just T4! if they had MoN then they have T5. How is that monsterous?
Seriously they die like terminators. Just toss a bunch of low str shots at them and they die.

DP are the squishiest MC at toughness 5, but like DeathReaper said it's apples to oranges. Nurgle bikes are toughness 6 which is the average toughness of MC but no one has mentioned them. Wraithguard could be the only thing that could be considered "monstrous" with the lord and knight, and I'd take it, but I seem to get more vehicle questions on my lords and knights than MC on my guard.
