I'm not sure what kit or what bits of what kit I should look into using for it.

Some bits that do interest me are obviously ogre kingdoms stuff along the lines of

I could see part of that being useful but I'm looking to hopefully get some direction here.

A chariot might be a good place to start, something like the orc one maybe.

(grain of salt, I’ve been out of fantasy for a while now not very fluent in the range)

It's made out of:
-Island of Blood Warlord
-4 Stormvermin
-Some spare Skaven shields and another shield on the Warlord
-The body of a chariot (I think an Orc one)

I you really want to scratch-build, use plastruct. You could make something even cooler!

stormvermin for the bottom, warplightning cannon for the stand/chariot, and any warlord for the top
