To be honest it was a tough toss-up between UCM and Resistance for me. I ended up going with Resistance because it can be incredibly challenging yet extremely rewarding to play. It breaks the mold that the other forces tend to fit into. You have powerful to mediocre old-tech units, rag-tag technicals and wagons that lack active countermeasures and heavy armor, but that are cheap and come with nifty deployment options, and a broad variety of infantry to cover everything from CQB to anti-tank. Resistance also have a ton of bolt on upgrades. From spider mines, to rocket launchers, to anti-aircraft guns.

U.C.M. on the other hand have a certain cool modern-future warfare factor to them that is hard to overlook. Innovative low profile tanks with sloped armor, sleek dropships with magnetic-clamps unleashing heavy armor into the fight, sniper teams taking advanced positions and providing spot anti-infantry and AA against slower roving aircraft, drones, and the best looking interceptors in the game.

Resistance is a ton of fun. Mad Max and Terminator is a great aesthetic.
UCM reminds me of an RTS Army, like from Total Annihilation or Supreme Commander, or just GDI.
Shaltari are Protoss.

I really do like them all, picking faction for this game was ultra hard for me

It should be no surprise that almost every UCM army I've seen was in desert camo a la GDI

While I don't actually play, I do occasionally buy DZC figs for other purposes and generally drool over certain models. With that in mind, my answer to the original post's question would be UCM because of stuff like this...

PHR, not so much for playstyle, but moving those lovely models across the board is fun in of itself.

Not in yet, but the Scourge is kind of cool.
I guess next to that would be the Resistance or PHR.

Resistance. I was sold when I saw the first pics and how much work and detail Hawk was putting into it. I love the mix of the remnants of the EAA's armor combined with loads of re-purposed technicals and drills. The army borrows certain elements from the other core factions but retains its uniqueness in other ways. Throw in the ability to play two different sub-factions and a lot of room to make your own fluff and its everything I have been wanting for some time since I always have a love for the 'independent' faction in wargames. I can't wait to see what is in store for the future with this army.

PHR was my 1st army just love the aesthetics which are basicly what you would get if Apple became a defence contractor.

Then I picked up my 2nd faction the resistance purely because of there air force the gunships and a10 equivalent rock.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Leaning towards the look of PHR, but will play the two armies in the starter to begin with.

Everyone is talking about the interceptors which is awesome. I fancy the Scourge myself (I will buy a Desolator and I WILL paint it like a Reaper lol) but is it just me or are the Corsairs ugly as sin? Is there any way to convert them so they actually look like biomechanical space parasite planes and not like... that?

Resistance! Nothing like a clapped out mob of technicals and dirt bikes roaring down the road, unloading on tanks and then skidding around the corner out of sight!

"are the Corsairs ugly as sin?"

+1

I love my Scourge (and Resistance!) but for some reason the Corsairs look "out of place" compared to the other models in that range.

Love my scourge. They basically paint themselves, and look good. Also their speed makes me feel like I'm cheating. It's amazing!
