Quick question came up when I was testing Necrons today. Fire arcs on the ghost ark weapons, what are they classed as, sponson hull mounted etc. and where can they draw line of sight too? Need some real help on this one!

Hull mounted, 45 degree horizontal, unlimited vertical, can draw los from any of the 5 flayer barrels.

A previous FAQ ruled them as hull mounted (so 45 degrees from any barrel), and so long as ANY of the barrels can draw line of sight, then all 5 may fire. This means that it will be a very rare occurrence for both arrays to be able to fire at the same target. Link to pdf of old FAQ - http://www.teambelgium.eu/FAQ/Necrons_v1.4.pdf page 5, 4th question on the left column.

If I'm not mistaken, the Ark itself may only fire in the directions the sides are facing. So you have to sort of swing the Ark around so the side is facing the unit they wish to shoot.
Though the guys inside may fire any direction, as the Ark is open topped.

Actually, it doesn't need that rule any more or to be faqed at all it's just one giant weapon called Gauss Flayer Array.
Previously it was "5 Gauss Flayers" , now it's just one giant weapon on the side of the Ghost Ark.
It's arc is basically a little less that a 180 degree arc. Cause the whole side of the Ark is in fact the weapon now it's just like one big "thing".
So the very end of the gun has a 45 degree angle.

Not true. They have always been Gauss Flayer Arrays, its just that the wording didn't make it clear how it operated.

I don't even know why we're arguing about this but :
The Ghost Ark has Two seperate arrays of 5 Gauss Flayers - one along each flank ...
Previously Gauss Flayer Array was not a weapon.
Two Gauss Flayer Arrays ( Array is just a set of things) , like a Array of Dishes, multiple dishes.
Then the weapon was Gauss Flayer.
Now it is called a Gauss Flayer Array which has a completely different profile than Gauss Flayer.
The point is there's no more "measure LOS and all can shoot BS anymore". So the way to figure out the Firing arc is to just apply a 45 degree angle outward on the guns on either end and that's your firing arc. Basically for the entire array.

Yeah, we had a discussion about them being sponson weapons so theoretically having 180 degrees line of sight but glad there is a consensus on this.

Sponsons do not have a 180 degree arc. One example in the rulebook does, but another doesn't. (Predator vs Leman Russ)
Because it's limited to how far the weapon can move.
