Just got done looking through the CSM codex and I threw together these three lists. My models are limited so I feel my 1500 list is weak, but I feel confident I did a decent job on the 1000 lists. Im looking for tips to improve my army building because I just returned to the game and and I am new to CSM.

I would down grade all kb into faux zerkers or convert them into plague marines. Not only will you save points but you get special guns.Do not ever purchase power weapons or combi weapons on the champs as they are worthless. Separate the oblits so they can fire different targets and not have to roll ld when 1 team member dies. The khorne lord and tzeentch sorc do not fit in with the army. I would also convert all termi into obliterators.

combine all 3 helbrutes into the deepstriking Mayhem formation. They also get iwnd.

I am confused as to which models you actually have. Do you have 2 lists at 1000 and another 1500?

You seem to be heavy on troops which is how the game was intended to be but it is not tournament competitive.

Yes this is three different lists. My model list is limited to typhus, sorc lord, chaos lord, helbrute, oblit, termi, cultists, berzerkers, possessed, and generic space marines.

Thanks for the advice on oblits and helbrutes, and on champions should I equip them with anything in particular or just a chain weapon and bolt pistol?

Have another look at the terminators. It is not generally necessary to upgrade all of them to power fists. MoT is also worth considering if you are up against heavy weapons, plasma or melta weapons. Also drop in some combi flamers (overwatch) and combieltas to get them to their full potential.
Nothing wrong with berserkers, the extra point of WS put them at a significant advantage over standard CSMs. I don't think they all need to fork out for the axes (although you probably have the all modelled like this) a handful in a big unit helps tip the scales against some opponents.

The cultists are better plain and hidden/in reserve, or in the case of zombies in one massive unit to act as a wound tank for Typhus.
Possessed are considered expensive for what they do. You could leave them in reserve to help clear your line later on in a game of pop them in your rhino and accept they will not get into combat until later in the game.

I do like a power weapon on a champion. I have been mightily pummelled a few times by a bit of AV3 tipping the balance against me.

Sorry I have been a bit general so far. The two 1000pt lists are a bit slow for my liking. The rhinos make the last list the better one.
