Hi folks, i have recently been tempted back to Games Workshop after over 15 years failing to be cool.
I have bought from Ebay a big pile of crappy painted junk marines, stripped them and am now trying to restore them to glory. I have the makings of a pretty nice 2000pt army and have chosen to paint them Raven Guard, the black/white scheme should be a fairly easy way to get comfortable painting again (i was a child when i last held a brush!). I have been enjoying the experience so much, restoring what was on the verge of being garbage is strangely satisfying and i cant wait to have enough painted to begin playing games. In the mean time i thought i would try and get involved with some online communities and maybe share this and future projects with people.
Thanks for reading my post
Gantoris.

Nice work, I wish there were more cheap second hand stuff in Australia so I could do the same thing. Nice thinking there! Welcome to Dakka!

Thanks, Ebay is defiantly an excellent option for a gamer on a budget. Be careful about glue damage cause its hard to see, and stipping a lot of minis is a massive ballache you need to be prepared for.
Australians can use Ebay cant they? I honestly have no idea how it works but can you view and pay for listings posted by people in other countries? I occasionally see american listings in dollars that i can try to buy.

I find there isn't alot of cheap listings within ebay australia, and all the over seas listings just load up the shipping costs.

You have to remember it is cost of living as well though. Our minimum wage is much much higher than the US for example, which makes the prices for everything to be higher. It is relative. Put a higher price on top of that and the prices seem ridiculous sometimes. It isn't much more expensive to get forgeworld equivalents of models for us.

You guys have dire internet aswell which would drive me crazy, at least you don't need to wait an extra 18 months for video games to come out like back in the SNES days
Another good place to look for second hand minis is Gumtree and there are a few Facebook groups dedicated to trading GW minis that are pretty decent aswell. Gumtree can sometimes be a goldmine, a m8 of mine makes good money scanning it and ebay for cheap minis then reselling them. On Gumtree you sometimes get parents clearing out attack and just selling a huge pile of GW stuff for £40 cause they haven't a clue what to do with it.
