Painting my "forgotten mini's" (lot of ral partha and reaper and god knows what else bought down the years for who knows what reasons) Nothing spectacular, I'm not that spectacular a painter nor are these really all that detailed, but its a lot of fun, more fun then painting any GW miniature lately (though I think 1 is a GW miniature) some weird fell bat/carrion looking thing.

Also jotting down ideas for making a game, I've been pondering on this for some years and looking at this random assortment of models has made me dig up my notebook of random rule ideas.
I should open a thread asking for ideas.

I've been building the Finemolds 1/72 Millenium Falcon since November. Quite a kit, at over 900 parts and ~1.5ft in length its the largest, most complex model I've ever tackled. I've got her painted and now its time for details and weathering, which might take as long as assembling it did!
Truly a fantastic kit, I'd recommend it to any star wars fan with the $$$, skill and time.

Finishing 17 or so models I just got dip/sealed. Just have to put them on their bases. Need to sort out 11 more models of whatever type to finish for the year.

Second X-wing painted, arguably more successfully than the first. Now on to the A and B wings from the Rebel Aces set. Not sure what colours to use; both X-wings have predominantly red markings, so on one hand, going with the classic red scheme on the A-wing ties them together, but also looks a bit samey... So it'll likely be green or a very dark red, blue on the B-wing and yellow on the Y-wing when I get around to getting one. Flew these guys in my first 'proper' game last night, an A, X and B vs 4 TIEs and Vader; proceeded to annihilate the Imperial fleet for the loss of 2 Shields on the B-wing! Swapping sides next time, to see if the issue is player or squadron. A pair of Nomad Geckos I'm painting up for another Dakka member also turned up today, though I likely won't get started on those until after Christmas.

Oooh looking forward to the Geckos
I don't think that AXB is a particularly powerful combination (A's in particular tend to be found lacking, I think). Vader is pretty awesome though I think he's a lot better if you have the card from the Imperial Raider set that gives you a free upgrade (and there's an upgrade or two in the set that are suited to the TIE Advanced) so they may have done just as well with the 3-4 more tie fighters. Could just be gap in skill or strategy, the game can be pretty punishing if you don't know how to fly your squad.
Oh a photo of those minis for 'why not'.

In all likelihood it was just inexperience. My brother (my opponent) and I are both new to the game, but I've been reading up on it for quite a while so had a bit of a head start there. I imagine things will even out once we both have a few more games under our belts. Neither side was really looking to build particularly optimised lists, just stuff we thought was cool. Like most games, I was drawn to small, powerful forces (hence taking 3 high-skill pilots) while he went for numerical superiority with the TIEs, and Vader because Vader! We've yet to properly start using upgrades either, that might be something to even the odds a little.

Even before the Imperial Raider's release, Vader was the most playable of the TIE Advanced pilots, particularly if you gave him the Squadron leader pilot card.

Ahh no upgrades. Game changer for the B, Vader, and they help the A be a little better (if you don't give them missiles, there's a missile slot card that makes the ship cheaper). Ties don't tend to get them much, X-wings like a droid now and then. But yeah Compel, if you're gonna take an advanced before the Raider you needed the boss.

Assembled two of battle fronts BMP-2 APC, also based up 20 vehicles for my 1/285 scale ww3.
Then had a few ciders, and while giggling manically assembled and based a company of 1/285 scale infantry, which look ok but gork alone knows what they will be like to paint.
Also discovered RTV will cure with too little catalyst in it but it takes ages and guessing it will be weak when it's done

Going to clean him when I get home from work, and then get him ready to be my personal painting treat for when I finish my 2000 point tournament list.
From there it will be me painting my heresy army.

Priming some 1/285th infantry, went with a dark green even though the troops won't be.. the bases will and figured this is the easiest way of doing the bases. let that set and then have a base at painting them...

Re-basing my WHFB Deamons army to round bases for AOS. Having many tiny anxiety attacks about damaging my sculpting/painting every time I pop one off a square base (the entire army is heavily converted or entirely scratch-built).
Once that's done, I'm looking online for a good deal on a 40K Daemons codex.

Hobbywise? Basically nothing. It's too expensive and the models I want to include kind of suck (sentinels) or are older than my nephews (sisters).
