I recently downloaded BattleScribe to organize my army lists when I realized certain upgrades costs were diffrent from what my codex states. Examples include a boss nob upgrade costing 16 points or a big shoota costing 11 points (with the codex stating them to cost 10 and 5 points, respectably). I've been searching the army lists made here on Dakka to see which is "correct" and was horrified to see examples of both in different lists
5 nobz (90) +2 PK (25 each) and 3 Big Choppas (5 each) costs 175pts?

This one could go either way, with either Big shootas costing 11pts or Boss Nobz costing 16, but it doesn't use both

I assume all my dumb founded confusion is simply due to an update to the codex of some kind, does anyone have knowledge of where I might find an update that states different point costs for orks? I've seen a 7th edition update for them off of Black Library dating back to 2014, but all it stats if something about the Deffstorm Mega-Shoota.

The exact samples given look to me like the difference between the upgrade and the boy with upgrade. I can't see a good way to show this without exact points, so I hope the mods don't complain about me saying this... So you could see 10 boyz (60) with big shoota (5) or you could see 9 slugga boyz (54), 1 boy with big shoota (11) - but the total cost is the same either way.

All the "upgrades" of that type include the cost of the Boy being upgraded. So, if you want a 30 stong mob, led by a nob, with three big shootas, you would input 26 boys, then add three big shoot upgrades and one nob upgrade for a total of 30 models.

Yeah, it just depends on how the person who created the Army Catalogue for the codex chose to write it. In the case of the Ork list from battlescribedata.appspot.com, it's been written so the cost of the upgrade includes the base cost of the boy too. Other army catalogues, or even other Ork Catalogues written by different people, will probably be written differently. That's the fun of user-created content - the guy who makes Battlescribe doesn't actually make any of the army lists for it.

Boy = 6pts
Nob Upgrade = 10pts
Combined Cost = 16pts

Oh god that makes to much sense I can't believe I missed it...I've simply been adding the points for the extra boys to the total body count beforehand but then they were being added in again by battlescribe.
