Building up the Tyrant's Legion and that of course means militia tanks. But tanks in general aren't something I'm familiar with and I have no concept of what's good. Looking for a pair of the most competitive choices in a list that has a two-shot Orbital Bombardment, a Land Raider with Lascannons and Skyfire Missiles (Hyperion varient), a Mortar team and a Chimera (prolly won't have the points for two), along with a smattering of small things that don't really matter. I might be including a squad of Las/Missile Centurions as well but that's still up in the air. I can't ally in a Drop Pod (Allies of Convenience with all IoM and normal matrix for the rest) so Grav is completely out of the question.

So my options for Leman Russes are the LRBT, Exterminator and Annihalator. But, because of the older rules, the Russ gets Lumbering Behemoth so Ordanance weapons can be fired with other guns at full BS. Not every player will be okay with that and some will likely prefer me to use the modern Heavy rules complete with Ordanance nerf. I'm not against that to be honest. But, would it be worth it to keep the main cannons on there and take the hit as far as other weapons? And what should I do with them other weapons? Being able to shoot everything each turn makes me want to load up on guns. Heavy Bolters, Stubber, just throw more dice at the enemy and hope it sticks.

The four shot Autocannon is another option but I dislike Autocannons. Whimpy little things but I suppose they can glance things to death when aimed at light vehicles. AV11 beware, but is that a waste of a tank? A 175~pt tank that I'd be having two of? Would I be better off just taking things like Medusas and Earthshakers, sticking them in a corner and calling it a day of Artillary?

First :magnets. The new LR kit is easy to magnetize.
Second: i am not very familar with the Tyrant's Legion but exterminators are good because they force Jinking saves. Since Ap3 can no longer explode vehicles the only option is to inflict hull points till they die.
Third: if you go artillerry go for the heavy artillery cariages.
Fourth: An Anihilator w/plasma sponcons sounds good
Fifth: The Exterminator is very friendly to being loaded with guns and it can fire all of them. Go tank hunter w/ LC and MMs or infantry killer with H bolters all around.

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

In a Trayzn pokeball

The eradicator is the best variant for the IG 6th ed codex (the most recent one), but with the heretics, I'm not so sure.
It is the best in points (120) and what you get for those points. S6+AP4+Ignores cover+Large blast=dead infantry of any kind that isn't MEQ or TEQ.
Then, since you are going for anti-infantry, keep the hull HB, and have sponson HBs.
The LR variants are all mediocre or bad at killing vehicles, TBH. This means you will be looking for the best infantry killer. The main gun on the eradicator is just that, and the three HBs add to that.
It is also good at putting enough wounds on MEQs to start killing them. And, with the HB sponsons, it is only 140 points, less than a barebones normal LR.
But, since you aren't using those rules, and you still have lumbering behemoth, get two barebones demolishers, and close the distance between you and the enemy as fast as possible. This will cause inevitable panic.
All guns will turn on them, but they are Av14, so they should get within range, and start wreaking havoc. They may only last another turn or two, but they will still have killed stuff and allowed the rest of your army plenty of time to do other things.

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

Eradicators and Demolishers aren't available. Tyrant's Legion isn't quite Heretic and isn't quite Guard. It's this strange halfway point with half the units, more of other units guard WISH they had easily, and some unusual Space Marine units.

I hadn't considered Plasma Sponsons but I think I'll have to give it a try. Makes it more threatening to a wider range of models.

But magnets are on nearly everything I use these days. I'll be able to swap out any options as I go along and get more experience with the tanks.
