Well, I happen to love Kung Fu movies, and in general B movies; and I kind of stumbled upon this.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wakaliwood/help-build-a-ugandan-action-movie-studio-wakaliwoo?ref=video

Wakaliwood is an area within the small village of Wakaliga, Uganda that has garnered an international reputation for making action movies. It's the home of Ramon Film Productions and Nabwana IGG, a Ugandan filmmaker who has produced more than 40 feature films including the viral sensations Who Killed Captain Alex: Uganda's First Action Movie and Tebaatusasula. Wakaliwood has as many as 130 actors, Kung Fu masters, stunt people, technicians, hair and make-up artists, machinists, and artists who have travelled from all parts of Uganda to work with Nabwana IGG. The core members meet twice a week to shoot, rehearse, distribute films, build props and gear, develop stories, practice stunts, share ideas, and watch movies.

Seems pretty interesting at least; a Kickstarter for $160 bucks to make a movie.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Sounds fun.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Up past 6,000 dollars; kind of saddens me that some guy got 50,000 bucks to make some potato salad and this is all we have so far... That said, I'm sure a few grand can stretch pretty far in Uganda.

Uganda's Kung Fu Kidz, the Waka Starz, are featured in this week's Die Zeit Leo, Die Zeit's magazine for children. The article is in German, but the pix are international!

Holy Moly! We're the featured campaign on Kickstarter's official blog, This Week on Kickstarter!

"Genuine Ugandan action movies! Wakaliga is a small district in Kampala, Uganda. In that district lives a guy named Isaac Nabwana. Isaac Nabwana makes action movies — genuine Ugandan action movies, with martial arts, shoot-em-ups, drug gangs, commandos, and high-octane special effects put together on low-octane built-from-parts computers."

We're proud to say that after just one week, Wakaliwood's Action-Packed Kickstarter Video has been viewed over 15,000 times on YouTube. That's amazing! And we've been featured on the cover of Vice Magazine and Neon Magazine in Germany calls Isaac a 'genius' and the 'Tarantino of the Slums.' The praise keeps coming...

We've had fans from all countries reach out to us, especially France. We removed this clip from our Kickstarter video in the wake of the tragedy of Charlie Hebdo, out of respect for the citizens of Paris. It was made with joy.

France was in our hearts, both before and after.

As for Spain, here's a machine gun cannibal in the city centre of Navalcarnero, a small village just outside Madrid. Enjoy!
