I was browsing a 3rd Edition space marine Codex. Interestingly. Back in those days if a space marine unit was caught in a sweeping advance they would still be locked in combat but their enemies would receive +1A as if they were charging.

Would anyone welcome a return to troops counting as charging against any ATSKNF units they successfully sweeping advance (perhaps in next edition)?

Actually, I think anyone who wins an assault but is still stuck in should get a bonus of some kind to keep their momentum going.

Considering the reason they don't get swept of the board is that they never stopped fighting you - I'd say the answer should be no. Personally I think getting +1 attack for charging is pretty dumb to begin with because there is no option to counter charge other than having the special rule counter attack...which shouldn't be a USR - it should just be a standard rule any squad can use instead of overwatch.
