I wanted to know other peoples opinions on the Armor of A... S... (don't have my codex on me for spelling but know the rules) and for those who don't know it has all the rules for terminator armor with a 4+ invulnerable and it will not die. I don't want any comments on how the fluff of the armor says it is terminator armor and I can't give it to my lord with a thunderwolf.

A situation came up when I was facing Necrons, where my TWC and Lord on a thunderwolf with this armor only killed a few because of RP and then because the failed he moral check and broke but i couldn't sweeping advance. Normally because of how i equip them the squad just destroys anything it charges and if it doesn't it is because that unit is another beat stick and that combat could last a while. My load out for the lord is the kraken bone sword and a storm shield so all I take the armor for is the IWND which has paid off in other matches, but is it worth losing out on the sweeping advances?

I do not think the armor is worth it, all you gain is IWND which is a 1/3 chance 5-7 times a game IF you are wounded and not dead. Losing sweeping advance is HUGE for TWC as well.

Not at all worth it, in my opinion. If I recall, that armor is something like 30 points more than just getting the 2+ from artificer armor. Obviously the 4++ doesn't help him at all. That's a massive amount of points to sink into a small benefit AND a downside.

Armor of Asvald Stormwrack or something...

The armor is 50pts for IWND basically but you loose sweeping advances
You get a lot of bonuses for being cavalry
- May move up to 12” in Movement Phase, and Fall Back 3D6”.
- Not slowed by Difficult Terrain, but treat it as Dangerous Terrain (also in Assault).
Special Rules:Fleet, Hammer of Wrath
RENDING
plus you already have a belt of russ that gives you 4++

you don't need relentless
you don't really need deepstrike because of your movement

Better off with cheaper runic armor which still gives you the 2+ armor save and still allow sweeping advances
I run the lord with Runic armor 2+, shield 3++, wolf claw +1str ap3 and shred
- my interpretation of the codex which Battlescribe also agrees with is that CoF relics are not mutually exclusive or replace your weapons choices.
- so sometimes i opt to also add the Kraken sword for ap2. - I would also add digital weapons if i give this sword.
- usually i also give -
Frostfury: A 4 Assault Storm Bolter with Helfrost!
Fellclaw's Teeth: Reroll all failed to hit rolls in close combat. Totally worth it.

Runic armor is amazing on a Wolf Lord with a Thunderwolf mount and a Storm shield. THAT guy will not die.

The main reason I was asking was because 2 games ago was the necrons where the sweeping advance came into play and while it didn't effect the game as they ran off the board, if they hadn't it could have been devastating. But my last game was against Kharn's Butcher hoard, so with his list he had way more units than I did so when i got close I split off my HQ's and had them assault alone and because the Berzerkers were fearless they didn't fall back, and IWND saved my lord that game.

I mainly like sweeping advance because it can keep you in combat against marines rather than them trying to break off after one combat and then you are a sitting duck on their turn.

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer
