Subject: Grots in a Truck? how to spend 30-35 pts

I am working up an 1850 point force that does include 3 min grot mobs. I have the option of taking some extra points and purchasing either a deff kopta, or a trukk or a powerclaw for a nob to lead my 4 bike squad or a power claw or killsaw for my big mek on bike. my bikes also come with a painboy on bike. I have about 30-35 pts to go.
Has anyone used a FA trukk with grots to come on in reserve to take an objective? you can go 24 inches the turn it comes on.
Alternately, my bikes are riding behind three battlewagons one with shoota boys one with slugga boys and one with tank bustas. I do have one deff kopta to charge first any unit that can overwatch one of my battle wagon mobs that wants to charge to absorb that fire or lock them up.
I found one game that it would have been nice to have a PK in the unit of bikes, with three characters, against bugs, causing pain to a MC would have been nice.
Or do I go with another deff kopta for the rokkits, the fast mobility to get to objectives and also look to tie up or absorb overwatch shots?
Any thoughts

Have you considered a traktor kannon? Great anti-flyer insurance for 30 points

If you don't have pk on a nob than why take nob at all? That's my philosophy atliest , grots can run after an objektives . I'd go pk on nobs or other characters !

Extra trukks are not bad but I don't think I would ever include one with the sole intention of using it for grots.
I say a mek gun of some sorts if you have room, or the powerklaw on the big mek.

I too would suggest some artillery, except your list appears to already have battlewagons in all three HS slots?

My list has two traktor cannons already and 10 lootas. The tournament is a 2 FOC list, no duplications so playing with CAD and ORK Horde to get 4 painboys into the mix to get some FNP going. I purchased the nob for the bikers to get the extra boss pole and an extra wound in the bikes and extra character for challenges for only 15 pts I think the suggestion to put the PK/killsaw on the Mek rather than the nob. So, it goes, PK vs a 2nd solo deff kopta. I am leaning at the PK.

I would give the big mek a killsaw and try to make room to squeeze in a power klaw for the nob. The bonus power to your boyz can't be overstated.

Power Klaws are pretty much money in my experience. They're really just a massive boon for the boyz.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |
