Source is suspect, which links back to an article in Russian (source article is a clearly google translated version of the Pravda article) which is of course, also suspect, because it's bloody Pravda.
I don't bring this to you to actually discuss who committed the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I think we're all mostly reasonable adults here, and realize the claims being put forth by the Russian Government's official propaganda organs are nonsense in the extreme.
The question is, who do we laugh at first? The berk who came up with this idea? Putin for going along with it? The poor reporters who had to report this nonsense with a straight face? Or the conspiracy theory moonbats who are latching onto this like the last bit of flotsam after a ship goes down?

He already did that. Russia already used a doctored satellite image to try and prove that flight MH17 had really been shot down by an Ukrainian fighter jet...
I'm honestly curious what a satellite image could possibly show which could 'prove' the US was responsible for the attacks.
Catching images of the planes wouldn't prove anything, and it is clear that in the real world, the planes did hit the buildings.
Satellites couldn't catch the tons of demo charges inside the buildings.* Satellites couldn't capture the armed US troopers inside the planes forcing the pilots to hit the buildings (though they may capture those guys parachuting out at the last second).*
Some type of SIGINT/ELINT or hacked email 'proof' would be a lot more likely than imagery in my opinion.
* I am not serious, I do NOT believe there were demo charges or parachuting US commando hijackers.

Also, the 'we have sattelite images to prove' it part is likely just a stab at the US constantly trying to prove Russian involvement in Ukraine with very vague, grainy and unspecific sattelite images.

No, it's really not. At the very least, western media is still open source even if it can still be pretty biased. But it canbe biased in just about any way. In Russia, you either report about how awesome and manly Putin is, or else.

Not true. There is also relatively neutral media in Russia (comparable to the BBC in GB for example) and there is also media that is really biased against Putin. Of course, the vast majority of media is really positive about Putin and his policies, which should not surpise anyone considering how immensely popular Putin is with the Russian people. Putin had a 86% approval rate in the latest poll of the independent Levada Center. I don't think there has ever been an American or British leader with such high approval ratings.
It is really shocking that most people in the West so readily accept all the myths that the Western propaganda tells them about Russia. (not that it is much different in Russia, but still)

You do realise that those approval ratings are only possible in dictatorships where the state pretty much controls all the media that is consumed by its citizens? Kim Jong Un of North Korea and Saddam Hussein in Iraq had similar approval rates as well.
