Renegade Astra Militarum Force Spotted In Capella Sector

A bulletin arrived at GNN this afternoon reporting the sighting of the rouge Astra Militarum unit that has been roaming the area firing on Imperial forces they encounter.
Sources report this may be the Vethax Guard unit that was recently condemned by the Reclusiary for having been tainted by dark energies.
Their movements imply they may be on an unknown quest. A witness to one of their recent raids suggests they may also be in search of supplies.
Area cam-pod units sent in pics we were given access to with clearance to release them.

A Space Marine detachment of the Emerald Star spotted the Guard at the village of St Elwood the Wise.

The Marines occupy ruins on the eastern edge of the village.

On their left they sight in heavy artillery

Left flank Guard move into buildings on the western edge

An autocannon squad sets up in the woods

At their center and right flank, armored units move into the village

Guard fire wounds several Emerald scouts The Marines fire back with lascannons

Emerald lascannons light up a Chimera and force the occupants to disembark.

This seemed to cause some confusion in their ranks, but the non-comms pulled the troops together

On their right flank, Tempestus veterans moved to retrieve supplies and face a unit of Emerald troopers

The Space Marines open fire

The Guard troops return fire, wounding several Marines

A Stormraven dispatched by area command make a pass over the village

The big bird opens fire on the Leman Russ of Commander Johnson, causing some minor damage.

Commander Johnson orders Guard troops forward to put fire on the Emerald Marines

The Stormraven sweeps past the village to come around for another pass

In a bold maneuver, the bird goes into hover mode directly behind the Guard armor to put
Multi Melta fire in at point blank range

The Stormraven knocks out one of the Leman Russ, but the Guard fire has deteriorated the Emerald Marines
to the extent that they were forced to retreat from the field. The Stormraven leaves to transport casualties to the
local field hospital and the Guard escapes into the wilderness having pillaged the stores of the village.

Having located the renegade Guard, numerous recon drones were dispatched to the area and Imperial units
have been put on high alert. We will report the latest developments as the become available.

Addendum: These battles are being fought at our flGWs in the Capella Centre in the Polaris area near
Columbus, Ohio as part of an Escalation League. Any similarities between persons living or dead are purely coincidental.
