I am new the 40K hobby and I want to try out some tanks. But I have no local game store and I don’t want to spend money on a tank that I do not like So I started wondering are there any “Tank Tokens” that are like an overhead shot of the tank and about the same size and demisions as the physical model? So I could print out a few and use them till I found the ones I like and then mail order them. I have looked at paper tanks but I don’t want to spend the time putting them together, I just want to print and play. Drop pods and land speeders would be cool as well.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Go look up paper crafts and extrapolate it from that.

Otherwise if you are that tight for cash there are virtual 40k systems (the name escapes me)

Easy as heck to make. Just look up the dimensions of the model (they are all out there somewhere), draw a box that size in your Word Processor/Paint application of choice, copy and paste a picture of the tank in and you're good to go!

If you want a top-down view, and can't find an actual image of one, look up Vassal40k Sprites, they are animated representations used in an online 40k-simulator.

Hello,

All of the above solutions will work.

However, I have some printable 'box tanks' (they are literally a rectangular prism with the picture of the tank) on my blog. Granted, they are not quite to size, but I think they should be close enough to act as proxies while you make up your mind.

If you're interested, my blog is here:

Good luck!
