So, the question is if I have a Leman Russ Vanquisher with sponson heavy bolters and I wreck or destroy a transport with the Vanquisher cannon, can I fire the heavy bolters at the disembarked passengers? I know that there is a specific permission given to generally allow a charge of the passengers if you shot their transport, but I can't find reference to whether you can continue to shoot at the passengers. My feeling is you can't, as the target of your shooting has ceased to exist, but I couldn't find any mention in the BRB.

Unless there's a separate rule out there, then that's your answer.

Added to which, at the point where you declare what you're shooting at, the passengers aren't yet a valid target...
