Just a quick question, i don't plan on using my weapons on my commander, using him purely as a buff platform, does anyone else who does this model the weapons on them as well? As the finecast model does not actually come with physical parts to represent the support systems, i just don't want people to start getting uptight about taking four weapon OR support systems while i have the weapons on the model. I could also magnetize him i suppose.

Cheers everyone!

Most of the time, you end up with extra bits from regular crisis suits that you can add to the model to represent the various systems. I suspect that as long as you go through the effort of modelling at least two support systems of any kind and no weapons that the vast majority of folks won't mind if you don't actually have all four. While the plastic bits do actually have specific uses, most tau players don't know exactly which bit is what and just attach the one that looks coolest to them and their opponents usually know even less about which bit is what. To model the optional multitrackers in the old codex, I have to specifically do a web search to determine which one it actually was. Since it is now standard, it has become my "counterfire system" bit instead. To my knowledge, the bit in the finecast crisis commander (just built my first one) is only labelled as a generic support or signature system (can't remember which) in the instructions and isn't anything specific. If you've got more than one commander, you can put both on top of the thrusters to model the signature systems.

My recommendation is to magnetize a single hardpoint so you have the option of mounting a weapon in addition to mountint 2-3 support/signature systems.
