Hi everyone,
Used to play 40k about 10 years ago (probably longer) and trying to get back in on a casual basis. Have written a 2k list and was hoping for some feedback.
Here goes...
HQ:
Grukk Face-Rippa
Boss Zagstruk
Elites:
3 meganobz with big shootas(one boss) in battlewagon with killkannon.
7 nobz with big choppas and eavy armour (one boss) in trukk.
Troops:
11 boyz, 1 nob in trukk
11 boys, 1 nob in trukk
16 shootas, 1 nob, 1 rokkit
15 shootas, 1 nob, 1 rokkit
Fast Attack:
9 stormboyz (lead by Zagstruk)
Heavy Support:
Gorkanaut with grot riggors and extra armour
3 killa kans with rokkit launchers, extra armour
15 lootas
Comes to exactly 2k with a few upgrades here and there.
All feedback is appreciated! Please bare in mind this is casual rather than competitive

Tough-as-Nails Ork Boy

I don't usually run stormboyz but from what I can tell you either run a lot or don't. Also I think by having named characters while good for fluff (story) might not preform the best. IMO i'd run a warboss & take out zagstruk & stormboyz. Also the gorkhanaught will be shot make it look like a target and people will waste shots on it.

'Nids growing soon
3500 pts. unpainted
Admech 1000 buying & building
If you don't enjoy playing against people with unpainted armies, break into their house when they sleep, paint their figures for them, help yourself to their cheerios and then your problems will be solved.
Well, my opponents usually don't have more than 1-2 Wave Serpents 'cos Serpent spam is very expensive in real life money.
GENERATION 11: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment. |

Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

On the contrary, I think Grukk is a relatively strong special character because he's low key. Costs just over what an identically armed warboss would cost but his FNP is 5+ baseline rather than the lackluster Cybork 6+, and shred is nothing to scoff at either. Getting 1s on powerklaw wounds is infuriating, but anything this guy hits, he's gonna wound. And thats without discussing the merits of having arguably the strongest warlord trait in the ork book fixed (barring maybe the fearless waaagh one).
Zagstruck on the other hand is pretty bad, but I find he does have one solid use, which is to charge a unit with a vulnerable but powerful character, and issue a challenge. They won't expect the auto-hitting I10 powerklaw hammer of wrath hit, and if they're T4 or less, its instant deathing them. Good for sniping warlords, and absolutely hilarious too I might add.
I'd drop the stormboys, only keep 5 if you plan on using the Zagstruck snipe to eat overwatch for him. You should have powerklaws or big choppas on all your boyz' nobs, preferably klaws. Also, every Nob leader or Boss Nob needs a bosspole, no exceptions. They are an auto-take. It might seem like it adds up to a lot, but if you re-roll mob rule just once and end up staying, you've already earned back the cost of every bosspole on the table, I guarantee it.
I'd drop the extra armour on the kanz, it's too expensive and with how few hull points they have its likely they'll just die outright, or only one of them will be stunned, in which case you lose 2" of movement on the rest of the unit tops to try to maintain 4" coherency.
Also, I dont think Meganobs get big shootas, they have twin-linked shootas.
I'd also strive to make those other two ork units smaller and jam them in trucks, even if it means downgrading the meganobs to a trukk. You want armour saturation if you're gonna take it at all, and right now its still pretty easy for your opponent to prioritize their anti-armour firepower.

How about dropping Zagstruk and the stormboyz,
Losing 1 squad of shootas,
Running the other in a trukk,
Losing the extra armour on kans as mentioned.
Upgrading nobz with powerklaws (bosspoles were already included, sorry didn't list)
Adding Ghazghkull thraka in with meganobz?

Ghaz is kinda cool, but I wouldnt sweat him too much. That being said, hes pretty tough, and being Eternal is nice too. To be honest, I think that a regular warboss with DLS is pretty awesome. +1 WS for his group and rerolling all saves, to-hit and to-wound is better than Shred.
For the nobs with big choppas, I'd drop the 'Ard armor and a single nob, and take a painboy. He has nob stats, a poisoned weapon, and gives the whole unit FnP, which means that guys with powerweapons, heavy flamers, or lightning claws wont just tear through you.
Lootas should be kept in smaller units. Without bosspoles, and at LD 7, theyre easy to shoot off the board.
