So I'm looking at a heavy armour list.
I was thinking
HQ[/u]
lvl 1 Lib
Troops
6 Razorbacks w/ TL AC
6 Squads Tac marines w/ 4 LC's, 1 ML & 1 bare bones
Fast attack
3 Stormtalons w/ TL AC & TL LC
Heavy Support[b]
3 Lass Preds.
The thinking behind this list is that with 6 Razorbacks I can pump out a lot of shots to deal with infantry heavy armies.
4 LC and 1 ML to handle armour within the Tac Marines
3 Flyers to control the skies and put some hurt on armour and troops
3 Las Preds to drop any high armour and tough targets.
What do you all think?

Razerbacks just dont have the damage output to be a primary damage dealer for the army. I would heavily suggest that you invest in one of the Space Marine power units: Grav centurions, bikes, TFC, sternguard or TH/SS termies. Tac squads are OK due to the Obsec, and 35 point Obsec rhinos are a steal. Just dont put too many points in an AV11 platform that dies to krak grenades and bolter fire (from the rear)

Thanks for the input. Ive got other Marines list. Was just trying something new. Those bolter fire to to get to my rear first, which only drop pod armies could do such things. If I were to deploy in such a way they couldnt do that, would I not have the upper hand?

With that many tac marines Calgar would be an interesting HQ to make use of 2 chapter tactics for the reroll on bolt guns (twice)

Are you planning on using the Iron Hand tactic with vehicle heavy list? If so, better have a MotF as well. Or would you consider taking Ultramarine tactics to ultilise that many tatical squads. Automatically Appended Next Post: Imho, you also need a few fast moving or deep strike units to capture / challenge mid field and enemy back field objectives.

Ive got the flyers to drop targets off the backfield objectives, and I can always drop them to skimmer mode to cap an objective if need be. Ill control the midfield as should survive that much fire power.
Id have to drop a couple of razorbacks and tacts to support Calgar.
And yes Iron Hands tactics for the re rolls if anyone gets too close to the tacs

You need to be UM to use Calgar. There is nothing wrong with this list, it just lacks the "Deathstar" unit that puts out the hurt. You dont have any CC counter attack unit, and nothing has the power to wipe an enemy MEQ squad from the table. I have been using a small Cent star lately to great effect (love the damage output, hate the models though) to do my lists heavy lifting.

I wanted to ask you to clarify something. Did you mean 4 Lightning claws, or Las cannons? Either way, you can't have 5 heavy weapons in a tac squad, or even in a Devastator squad.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard. |

Either way, you can't have 5 heavy weapons in a tac squad, or even in a Devastator squad. I think you're confused because in the last section of the OP he lists all the heavy weapons in his army. All those weapons aren't in one unit. They're spread over 6 tac squads. I think iron hands is absolutely the way to go for the gunline list you're shooting for. I do have one suggestion though. What about a "rhino" rush list with all those razorbacks? Run WS or RG - get some flamers in some of those tac units, and race up the board. You should open transports fine with all your assault cannon fire and las-pred support, and then you can be in range quickly with some brutal anti-infantry suppression. It's not a tactic you'd use every game, but it might be nice to have the flexibility. You'd probably have to trim a razorback, and maybe drop a stormtalon - But you can do it and keep the core of your force intact. Bump up some of the squads to 10 men and combat squad them. The group with the lascannon can sit in cover as planned, and the squad with the flamer or plasma gun can go pwn face. It's worth thinking about at least.

I was confused, thanks.
Iron Hands would be really good for an army like this with all of the vehicles in it, since they gain IWND as does your HQ and a 6+ FNP on everything, which isn't a bad thing to have at all.
