I found Dystopian Wars the other day and have looked stuff up for it since - I just love the the art direction. I've always liked Steampunk, but this is in a style that most of all remind me of that Steamboy Anime, and I love that movie, so... Also I've been dying to try Battlefleet Gothic, and Dystopian Wars looks like that, and is still going, so...

How does it work, then? What should I keep in mind when playing, as a main 40k/Fantasy/Warmachine type player? Something I have to unlearn? Is it balanced?

I have been looking at the British Imperium, simply because I like british stuff and british factions (Cygnar player me), but frankly, I also like the Blazing Sun naval units and the Preussian naval ships. And of course the Danish Fleet has a certain weird longship/fishing ship charm.

My playstyle tend to be very direct and simple, but supported by thourough understanding of my units and my opponents units and stuff.

I'll await your answers eagerly

One thing is that it uses alternate activation. That is very different than what you see in BFG.

After that it uses range bands, and certain fleets are stronger/weaker at different range bands.

Finally, it uses an exploding D6 system. So the more sixes you roll, the more dice you can roll on top of the first result.

Well, never tried any of those before in a TT game. I suppose I can learn to deal with it, though!

What about the factions? Do they play in a specific way? I've read a bit, but it's not very thourough, and I really wanna know what I get before getting it, you know?
