I am available for commission work, short turnaround/quick delivery, all size projects - i love painting!, contact me for more details or any questions you may have. Ive just recently got back into painting after nearly a decade away from it, enjoying it alot. With end times ongoing and 9th coming soon i thought id paint up an archaon model. Its my first time trying OSL and im fairly happy with the end result, not as neat as it could have been if i spent longer but overall im satisfied. Feel free to critique, i would love some feedback.

Ok well my CC is to much red not much a varied contrast and I am not a fan of the gloss coat.

I would say, try to blend your highlights a bit more, I personally can't stand seeing such obvious paintbrush marks on a miniature.

This of course doesn't apply if we're talking tabletop quality, I think your Archaon probably looks awesome when it's on the table.

When you're talking OSL, I guess you want to talk about the hot lava glow on the Horse right ?

If that's the case, two things:
1. It shouldn't end up on the top of the horse's head, the lava is below.

2. It should be a lot fainter, horses aren't exactly mirror like, even when sweating. It's a daemonic horse so he may even find lava to be just fine in terms of temperature

Overall this isn't a bad paint job by any measure, but it does seem to fall flat a little. Maybe there isn't enough color on it? Just seems to be missing something. Also, the OSL doesn't look right. You def get the point across of what you are trying to accomplish, but the light from the lava doesn't hit the right areas all over. Also seems to be just as bright close to the lava as it is further from the lava. Maybe not enough contrast. Still, not a bad job at all!

Next time, I would try something like spray priming the model black as usual, then turn the model on it's head and give it an ever so slight dusting with a grey primer just to act as a guide and paint the OSL where the grey falls. Just an idea anyway.

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.
