Necrons Invade Sacred Ground

Late breaking news bulletin from Capella sector command late Saturday.
Astropaths of the 3rd Intel Group reported electro-kinetic abnormalities
in the vicinity of the Sykelon Spiritual Mound. The Mound is an ancient healing ground
home to a number of statues said to possess spiritual and physical healing properties.
The Astropaths told of an unusual trans-dimensional gate that has manifested
in the area. Capella command dispatched a Blood Angel detachment to investigate.

What follows are cam-pod images we acquired from a Rogue Trader prospecting
team drone that was surveying mineral deposits in the area and happened across
the Blood Angel detachment moving south.

Lead elements entered the complex in the early hours of Saturday morning to
discover a golden portal had materialized near the Center’s Library tower

To the south, a phalanx of Necrons was spotted moving into the area

The formidable Necron force aligned in a classical, yet ancient battle formation

On the right, Squad Bravo approach the ruins of Saint Satchel the Mighty Lyceum

On the Necron right flank, Tomb Blades move toward a Comm Node

The heavily armed alien constructs settle at the base of the Comm Node

On the Necron left, Triarch Preatorians move toward the Lyceum past the
statue of Saint Bartholomew, said to possess extraordinary healing powers.

Squad Bravo moves into the Lyceum accompanied by Brother Kontu Chun.

On the Angel’s left, Speeders move forward to bring fire on the Tomb Blades
while a Razorback sets to secure the flank. One of the Tomb Blades falls

The right side of the Necron phalanx marches forward

As the sun rises, the Preatorians enter the Lyceum. Blood Angel fire wounds two
of the remorseless warriors, but they keep coming

Hand to hand combat ensues

The Angels gain the upper hand in the fight

At the center, the Necron Warlord orders warriors to support
the Tomb Blades, some having to climb the wall to get at our heroes in crimson

Squad Alpha assaults the Tomb Blades while one of the Speeders
vectors around the Tower

The Tomb Blades present a formidable challenge, a fight that would continue for some time

No matter how much fire power is fed into the Phalanx, fallen warriors seem to be
uneffected as they rise back up and continue their remorseless march. The phalanx return fire
is uncannily accurate. It is determined that the Triarch Stalker is feeding targeting data to the
robot warriors and must be knocked out. The Speeders are ordered to move around the left flank
and bring fire on the Stalker and the Warlord

The right wing of the phalanx moves down the wall while the left approaches the Urn containing
the remains of Saint Beatrice.

As Squad Bravo finishes off the last Preatorian and Brother Kontu Chun sets to face the
oncoming phalanx, Deathmark marksmen teleport in behind them

The Deathmarks and phalanx warriors take aim on our noble Dreadnaught

The enhanced firepower of the phalanx and marksmanship of the Deathmarks proves
telling as Squad Bravo looks on in horror, having felled the last Preatorian

Squad Domino disembarks from the Razorback to support Squad Alpha as the Speeders
race around behind the Necron line

Squad Domino opens fire on the Necrons

At the center, Immortals surround the Urn of Saint Beatrice while the warriors search for targets

The Deathmarks are distracted by movement to their front, allowing Squad Bravo to move
to cover behind the Lyceum

Squad Bravo’s sergeant determines the statue of Saint Bartholomew must be secured

The sergeant is wounded as the Squad dashes for the statue, but the survivors are
successful in executing his order

The Speeders line up on the Stalker but their fire is ineffective

The Stalker knocks one of the Speeders from the sky. The phalanx fire drops Squad Domino.
The remaining Speeder puts fire – literally – on the Necron warriors, knowing it is critical that
they not reach the trans-dimensional portal

The Razorback had fired on the Stalker repeatedly with lascannon, but to no avail.
The Necron Warlord stepped forward and destroyed the Razorback with a Tachyon Arrow.
Although the Blood Angel force is severely depleted, they have succeeded in holding the Necrons back,
allowing reinforcements to close on the area. The Necron Warlord recalls his force and they move out
of the complex into the surrounding hills.

The Blood Angel stand at the Sykelon Spiritual Mound was critical in that the Necron possession
of the trans-dimensional portal would have allowed untold numbers of the robotic warriors to flood the area.
It has become a battle of legend within the Astartes ranks. Six Blood Angels were awarded seals of merit,
three posthumously.

The Necron threat is regarded as formidable and Capella command has put all units in the area on full alert.
Reinforcements have been summoned. Follow GNN for all the latest developments.

Addendum: The black banners in the early photos indicate night turn. The Necrons of Nemesor Jeff had been undefeated
to this point in the Capella Escalation League in our flGWs at Polaris. If it had gone another turn, he would have remained so.
