Hi guys, I haven't seen an FAQ ruling on if skimmers or bikes may take a jink save when they are affected by Molten Beam.

Was this question ever resolved? I did a search but the last discussion seemed inconclusive.

If you consider targeting a point as per Beam power rules as targeting units under the subsequent beam then yes.

Strictly speaking though beam does target a point rather than any unit, and Jink is declared after a unit is targeted.

It's one of those issues I think the wording gets in the way of the intention. Because as the Jink rule is currently worded, you wouldn't be able to jink if someone lobbed a giant blast template on another squad and it scattered over to the unit in question.

My friends and I have basically house-ruled Jink to make it so you can declare a unit is Jinking against non-targetted attacks like Beam weaponry or scattering templates as soon as you know the unit might potentially have to roll some saves. So, before any dice are actually thrown to determine hits or wounds.

Obviously it's a houserule and should be treated as such.

Jink is already powerful enough as it is - personally I think not allowing Jink vs scattered templates or Beam/Nova attacks is fine.

Thats fine for HIWPI but this doesn't really apply to discussing ti in YMDC

That is so false, CrownAxe.

Ever read this post?

You should. HIWPI is actually part of the core reason YMDC exists. HIWPI is just as valid as RAW which is just as valid as RAI. There is not one sacred way to play Warhammer 40k, especially as rules-dense as it is. Multiple viewpoints can exist.

- Many arguments can be avoided if this is made clear. Don't assume you know the point your opponent is arguing about.

So, I'm guessing there's still no tourney ruling on this?
