So I just got my shuttle in today and I'm toying with some thing sin my head (New to X-Wing. so bear with me)

I'm looking at

Omicron Pilot
Sensor Jammers
Anti-pursuit Laser
Rebel Captive

Darth Vader
Tie/x1 (From the raider box when it comes out)
Expose
Proton Rocket
Munitions Failsafe
Adv. Targeting computer (also Raider box)

Commander Alonzen (Yet again. Raider box)
Adv. Targeting Computer
Proton Rocket
Munition Failsafe
Tie/x1
Wingman

Only a few ships I know, Ties would prolly do better. But I like the advanceds. lol. Especially with Vader being able to expose for 5 attack plus the Auto crit from the target computer.
And Alonzen there to ALWAYS make sure the target computer is doing something for him with Wingman to help out the shuttle.... that dial and all that red....
and I got the Shuttle as just the omicron so it gets the most out of the pursuit lasers. And the rebel captive... because well... it's a rebel captive.

All in all though like i said. I'm new. so advice? Help?

Expose only works on your Primary weapon, so it doesn't effect the Proton Rockets. Advanced Targetting is the same deal. With the combination you have at the moment you get a one use 5 attack from the Proton (2 attack + 3 agi base) with TL+Focus, and then have a 3 attack + a free Crit if you are using Expose.

I have no idea why you have Wingman on the other Advanced, there is nothing here which is generating stress (no PtL etc) and you will be spread all over the board. In a 3 ship build you don't want to shackle a maneuverable expensive ship to a slow expensive ship - that just results in both ships not doing well. Munitions Failsafe is also a complete waste - at range 1 its almost guaranteed that you are going to get hits with Protons.

Rather than Expose I would take Predator with Vader. It means you have access to re-rolls without spending your TL (which you never want to do with Advanced Targetting) and means you can reliably get 3 hits without evening using an action. I also consider Engine Upgrade mandatory for Vader, PS9 is incredibly strong and when you combine it with both repositioning actions and damage output that doesn't require actions you can get a heap of work done. Proton Rockets are good but not essential.

This is just a bad list, even once you fix the rule mistakes and replace the proton rocket gimmicks (which don't work) with predator or veteran instincts and an engine upgrade on Vader. That keeps the TIE advanced core of your list intact, and it's probably not a bad pair of ships to build around. But the shuttle seems kind of pointless. It isn't a major threat at all since it's so easily outmaneuvered and dies quickly enough once your opponent gets around to killing it. This means that your opponent can focus everything on killing (or stressing/ionizing/etc) your elite pilots without worrying too much about the other ~30 points of your list. And, as nice as Vader is, he really doesn't like it when he draws focused fire.

IMO there are two alternatives if you want to keep the TIE advanced theme:

1) Replace the shuttle with Fel (PTL + autothrusters + shield upgrade or stealth device) to have another elite pilot and force your opponent into difficult choices between Fel and Vader.

or

2) Replace the shuttle with basic meatshield TIE fighters. Once you strip out the redundant upgrades and fix your EPTs you should have 38 points left. That's three academy pilots and either an initiative bid or another minor upgrade somewhere. That gives you some efficient jousting ships to throw at your opponent, block their maneuvering and deny actions, get in free damage while they chase Vader, etc.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
