The Tau pathfinders moved quickly and effectively, their soft padded boots barely making a sound on the cold metal floor of the Imperial Stronghold, as they ran through the winding corridors on route to there target, the orb. They had gone in on the cover of darkness, quietly taking out the guards and proceeding on foot evading night sentries and watchmen to get up to the stronghold. Now they were inside, running single file lead by a tracking device carried by the squad leader. There totaled ten, and their mission was to retrieve and recover the orb and then await backup. The pathfinders came to a stop outside one of the corridor rooms, the squad leader signaled for one of them to enter whilst the rest took up defensive positions, he returned a minute later, clutching it in his armored hands, it was an orb, slightly bigger then the Taus hand, glowing a faint sickly green, the squad leader relieved the pathfinder of the orb and placed it in a compartment storage on his back, and they started to move out, running back through the corridors on which they came. But as they retreated into the dark, they were spotted by a sentry servitor, who immediately opened fire with his heavy bolter, one of the pathfinders was immediately cut down, his body ripped to shreds under the hail of the mass reactive bolter rounds, the others managed to get to cover behind some fallen logs and began to return fire with their pulse rifles. Sirens began blazing around the stronghold as they realized they were under attack, three more servitors appeared next to the first one and opened fire on the pathfinders pitiful cover behind the logs. The squad leader of the pathfinders coolly assessed the situation before nodding to two pathfinders closest to him, who immediately began lobbing photon grenades at the servitors whilst the rest of the squad moved, although thrown blind, they provided the distraction the pathfinders needed to run, one grenade blew up in the face of a servitor, sending him crashing onto the ground, his face burned of recognition, but the others recovered from the blasts, sending wild shots after the pathfinders, killing two of them, before the night swallowed them up.
The pathfinders gathered in a rocky cave, a few clicks out from the imperial stronghold they had just raided, they knew they would send out search teams, but it would take some time to find them, and by then, the pathfinders would be gone. The squad leader pulled out the orb from his backpack compartment and examined it, it was glowing brighter now, like something had awoken it, it was no longer a sickly green, but a more vibrant glowing green, strong and full of life. He wondered why this object was so important to the Ethereal Caste, he had never seen such a thing before, all he knew was that it was extremely important, and he had lost three good pathfinders for it. The floor began to rumble beneath the pathfinders. They stood, their rifles at the ready, searching for an enemy, The squad leader put the orb down, not noticing that it was glowing brighter and brighter, he moved towards the outside of the cave as the pathfinders formed up behind him, he switched on his visuals but didn't detect anything outside, before he could call an all clear, the orb exploded.
In a flash of green light the pathfinders were all obliterated, there bodies torn apart from the world shaking blast, for miles around the ground quaked and roared as if the world was splitting in two, and as suddenly as it happened, it stopped. nothing remained of the pathfinders, the only thing left was the green orb, glowing bright in the cave before a silver metal hand broke out of the ground grasping the orb in its fingers.
They had awoken

Overload Torak watched as his army assembled, thousands of necron warriors forming up in ranks, ghost arks powering up, ready to revive the fallen, night scythes screaming across the morning sky, he remembered what his head cyrptek Hakl had said to him about their awakening ' some warriors are experiencing individual thought processing, it may be from the orbs release of power taking the life force of the tau warriors, this life force may have been transferred into our warriors, reawakening some to their previous life before the metal'. He was pondering if this was a positive outcome when he was approached by a squad of deathmarks 'They are coming' was all they said, Torak nodded, he would find out soon enough, the Astra Militarium were formidable foes.

Hey all who decide to read this, i was bored of studying so i decided to write up a lil back story for my crons, the idea behind it is that some warriors think for themselves, and can assess a situation and act upon it individually, as well as have a name and speak. So yeah. Tell me what you think of the story, it may contain a few grammar errors n stuff, as im rushing this, but yeah
Also they are a 'renegade dynasty' they don't affiliate with other crons, even before when they were humans, i did this cause i didn't like how necrons lords were all politics squabbling over who gets what, so my overlord Torak is a bad ass guy who don't listen to no Stormlord
Hope you enjoy!
