Alright lads!
I don't often bother mentioning something unless I genuinely get addicted to it, this happens only two or three times a year.
Anyway... Ori and the Blind Forest. Buy the bastard.
Its beautiful to look at, has a great message if you are the hippy type, and even has an excellent soundtrack.
Best of all, it is maddeningly addictive. I promised my missus I would take her to the pictures yesterday and spent 5 hours constantly dying but begging for more while she shouted at me.. its ok, she is used to it after missing several movies when the X-com relaunch happened.
Basically its one of the few platformers I've played in the last decade I have actually liked. It combines a sort of "Legend of Zelda" growing bars mechanic, with the always addictive level-up/skill tree mechanic that makes you never want to go outside again, along with the Metroid thing where you have to collect power-ups to continue. The only criticism I would have is that you need to remember to save regularly because you die a lot, and for the first few hours I didn't really grasp the concept and nearly put my
PC through the patio.
Its great though, I heartily recommend it and its a mere 20 bucks.
