The Star Phantoms CT affects units that arrive via Deep Strike. ( the reroll reserve rolls of 1 part. )

If I have SM Gravcannon Centurions in a FA Drop Pod from BA and use the ability, do the Centurions benefit from the CT?

The Drop Pod arrives via Deep Strike, the Centurions are traveling in it. Are the Centurions therefore Deep Striking and gaining the reroll 1 to reserves?

The centurions are indeed Deep Striking, but they are not arriving "by Deep Strike". The wording of the Star Phantoms CT should be quite clear (hopefully)

Also just checking that the Centurions are part of the Detachment with the rule? otherwise they would not benefit (if the Drop Pod has the Detachment).

Yeah the CT specifies "arriving" by Deep Strike. So they are not arriving by Deep Strike, when arriving with a pod that Deep Strikes? ( )

And yeah the Centurions would be Star Phantoms, hopping into a Blood Angels Drop Pod. But yeah, I guess having rerollable Gravcannons should be quite enough when in a Pod anyway.

Another question:

Say I got a Whirlwind Scorpius with Battle of Keylek in a Star Phantoms -detachment. The Scorpius's weapon is Heavy 1. If I am stationary and use their ability, I will be shooting Heavy 1+D3 shots with it, ignoring cover, twinlinked?

To arrive by deepstrike, you must first place a model from the unit in the place you want the unit to arrive. You're absolutely not doing so when you bring in the pod

You got it, as Nos says just above, they would not benefit because the CT specifies arriving "by Deep Strike", which is placing the models down 1 by 1 (etc... Deep Striking)

I cannot answer your Whirlwind question though as i do not have the book on me. If the ability adds D3 shots, they would benefit from the weapon's special rules, normally yes.

Is that the "Hail of Destruction" special rule? If so, the vehicle needs to have the Chapter Tactics rule (which most vehicles don't, but some FW vehicles do), not just be in a Star Phantom detachment (this is true for almost all CT's, see the Iron Hands CT for a specific exception).

The Ignore Cover would be coming from Battle of Keylek. The amount of shooting from Scorpius's weapon.

But yeah it can't get twinlinked from the CT. I need to include a Librarian to make that happen.
