Subject: Warp Lightning Cannon - Determining units/models hit

Okay, so this came up at a recent End Times tournament I took part in, and I will give as best of a description as to what was going on.
So, Nagash hid behind a building the entire game to avoid being shot by my Warp Lightning Cannons. However, I told him that the building didn't necessarily stop my cannon shots due to how they were worded in my codex:
Warp Lightning Cannon, Firing the Cannon: All models touched by the template or in the path of the Warp Lightning from where it hits the ground to where it explodes suffer a hit at the Strength rolled.
After I read this to him, I suggested that the cannonball could land in front of the building and bounce through the building 10 inches and hit Nagash, as everything under the template is hit (including the unit inside the building, even though they would only take d6 hits).
Now, normally, when a cannon ball bounces into a building, it stops immediately (This was my opponent's argument, which I agreed with completely). However, the wording on the Warp Lightning Cannon suggests that the "template" would go straight through the building, as the template would simply cross through the building and hit whatever was behind it. I used the argument that even monstrous infantry don't stop the cannon shot, although this was specifically FAQ'd by GW.
My other argument was that the codex specifically states that the Warp Lightning Cannon functions exactly like a cannon, except with a few exceptions, with "models under the template or in the path get hit" being a specific rule given to the Warp Lightning Cannon.
So, my question is: Does the "template" immediately stop when it comes into a building (like a normal cannon), or, because every model in the path of the warp lightning is hit, is it possible to hit Nagash behind the building?

You argued it correctly. The Warp Lightning Cannon is both line and template. Unlike a normal cannon it is not stopped by anything. Not buildings, not unkilled Monstrous Infantry or Monsters, nothing.

Is there somewhere I can reference if this ever comes up again? I feel like the codex description is too vague (Go figure.. but still).

It isnt vague at all, it is exceptoinally explicit that everything under the line or template is hit, and gives no exceptions.

Well, normally a cannon's "path" is stopped immediately once it hits impassable terrain or an obstacle. It makes no note of whether or not buildings stop the path of the WLC or not, which is why I understand why players would think it would.
I'd understand if they FAQ'd this along with the fact that monstrous infantry don't stop the bounce, but they didn't, so it can be a hazy subject.
Even to this point, I was hesitant on shooting through buildings just so I'm not accused of doing something I normally wouldn't be able to do.. I'd rather not start a discussion. Also, I'd just rather have fun than ruin my opponent's experience (Seeing how I could've fired my cannons all game at Nagash and easily killed him in the 6 turns we played.. 7 gutter runners alone put like 5-6 wounds on him throughout the game by themselves).
However, if it was a huge tournament.. There wouldn't be any mercy.

If your opponent felt the same way about having fun, Nagash wouldn't have been hiding behind a house all game.

Well, if he didn't, Nagash would have been dead turn 1-2, especially with the way that I was getting passed his saves. Even after healing for about 4-5 wounds with the Lore of Vampires lore attribute, seven Gutter Runners alone dealt about 7 of those lol.
