Im looking at trading a bunch of warhammer i dont use for a large lot of Malifaux. some of it is newer stuff, some is a few years old. my question is this; are all models/units still legal and playable in Malifaux? while the new sculpts look amazing some of the old stuff is still pretty neat. i just dont want to end up with a bunch of old models i cant use. help?

There are a small number of models that got re-sized (mostly larger, in a couple cases smaller), such as the ice golem, poltergeist, and hamelin. Some like hamelin are now proxies but legal (Hamelin was a merc, eventually became a leader, only the leader has stats now).

I don't believe any old models are strictly illegal if properly re-based, and, either way, it's been my experience that wyrd's very friendly to conversions and proxies as long as there's been some effort put in and it makes sense what they represent.

With the Height stat and base size listed on the unit card, you have all you need for LoS mechanics. The model itself is largely irrelevant as long as the model is on the correct sized base. Well, zise from visual recognition.

So really, if you like the older models, go ahead and use them.

Looking more, don't like the old sculpts much. The new ones are ridiculously nice though. Maybe I'll just start small

I'm in the same boat. Many of the old sculpts I really just don't like. There's some gems in there though.
