Start with the Juggernaut unit, the two CSM units, and the possessed on the board, everything else in DS reserves or regular reserves. The Khorne Dogs (haha!) bikers and cultists are for late game objective grabbing. Usually there is an objective in my deployment zone for the cultists to grab. If I'm smart and thinking ahead, I can even make sure it's in cover so they don't die right away! Bikes turbo boost for objectives, jink all the time, and try not to die. The Hounds move 12 and run to get objectives. Obviously, the first thing I deal with is the ObSec in the enemy army, if any.

I take the second turn, almost every time. Deploy straight across from them, in terrain if needed. Let them do some moving to get better firing solutions, then move 12 with cav and charge, using the banner of blood to increase likely hood of successful charge. Bloodcrusher unit should draw fire first turn, allowing the slower power armor units to move and run their first turn, then assault second turn.

Thoughts? Comments? Critiques?

I like it. Psychological issue in that it can't scratch knights. Find a way to load the bikes up with melta?

Even throwing melta onto the bikes, that just makes them the first unit the knight would kill. My best bet against knights is to spread out the objectives as much as possible and hope I fail reserve rolls for the first couple turns. It sucks only being able to get up to str 6. Make use of the "Our weapons are useless" rule to escape from combat.

I suppose I could drop two bike squads and a flesh hound squad for the str D Thirster.

You have literally no anti tank. Not only does a Knight ROFL stomp the list but heck a Maulerfiend is basically immortal to this list.

With no transports the CSMs and Possessed are essentially wasted points. Daemonkin is the army that makes Rhinos really worth it.

Also I would take a fist over a claw on the Lord so he can deal with different targets. Whilst the armour isn't really worth it on a model that already has a 3+ save.

I disagree. Rhinos are pointless with them not being assault vehicles. Instead of charging turn two, I'd be charging turn three. Taking rhinos would be an even bigger waste of points.

The armor isn't worthless. Eternal warrior is a very good special rule, as is FnP.

The fist ins't a bad idea, but I need 2 more points after dropping the lightning claw. I took the claw because it's a specialist weapon, and works for bonus attacks with the axe. Anything armor 3+ or invuln saves I'd use the claw for the shred, but against 2+ armor, stick with the axe. With furious charge, I get up to str 6, and with weight of attacks, it's still enough to glance AV12 to death.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, with the knights. My units that want to score are just as fast as his knights, and in some cases faster (see bikes). I can just run around and turbo boost/ run to avoid getting charged, and just deal with the shooting till the game ends. It's not the end of the world, and with the maneuverability, can out score easily.

How are you charging turn two unless your opponent advances at your assault troops? If so just jump out of the Rhino turn 1 and assault turn 2 and you still get 6" extra movement. Plus they count to blood tithe whilst helping keep your troops safe during your opponents first shooting phase.

Yes those are good rules. But 50 points good? Not convinced.

Yes IF you charge you can glance AV12 to death though are relying on 6s and you have 1 shot at it. AV13+ is literally immune to your army. So competitively how do you deal with Serpent Spam, AdLance, Centstar etc. I just don't see what competitive lists you can deal with using this list?

I agree with all these points. The armor really only is worth in on Daemon Princes, as your Lord should have a unit around him to absorb Instant Death attacks while your Blood Tithe could be used to grant FNP.

I get the concept of just running around everything, and I suppose in theory it could work, but I don't see your list fairing well against Adamantium Lance. Tyranids also seem like they would have an easy time here, as does any army that is centered around speed like yours.

Push you bikes up to 5 a squad. You don't want to lose one bike and have the squad break and go off the table.

Censtar doesn't have vehicles? Except for maybe a drop pod or two if they want to spend those tight 70 pts on them? Adlance, again, space out the objectives all over the table, and turbo boost/run away from them until turn five, then turbo onto the objectives. Kill the six hundred or so points of everything else in his list. Serpent spam couple be rough, but it's rough for most other people too.

I could drop the carnhol formation, and take the unit of terminators/two units of crushers. Put four chain fists and a reaper auto cannon in the terminator squad. Get a couple units of spawn with remaining points to help with objective grabbing at the end.

Granted neither Centstar nor Black Knightstar have vehicles in the list. That wasn't my question it was how do you deal with them? Both paste your star both at range and in combat. The former has Gate so can't be avoided the later has a footprint you just won't get round. On that subject how on earth are you avoiding the AdLance. Each knight has minimum 14" charge reach and a 7" base. So 14" from one board side they deploy a knight that's 21" into the board you can't go. Then 29" from him another Knight. So that's 56" then the last Knight another 29" so that's now 92" of board plus his 14" away from the last Knight so unless you're playing on a board more than 106" wide you ain't hide from those Knights. I mean have you ever actually played a competitive game?

He doesn't have 106"+ reach after turn one. Feed him a unit, everyone else boosts away. Feed another, boost away. Ap2 at initiative is fine against 2+'s. Call draigo out so he can't tank all of them with his 3+. I play censtar a ton, I'm familiar with what they can and cant do. Their grab cannons need sixes to wound my juggernauts, with a reroll. Not the best for them.

Do you actually play any of these armies you are talking about? Knights don't threaten 24" a turn.

You feed him a unit. Well given that boards are only 72" and he might not always roll double 1s on the charge, 34" lee way plus footprint of your units and that should mean turn 2 that 2 Knights are in combat and in combat with something they are choosing, turn 3 plus all his Knights are in combat. I didn't say they threaten 24" I said they guaranteed 14" this is all based on 14". You're also ignoring the rest of the list. I run a FBSC with my AdLance so that's 2 dead units a turn on top of what the Knights do, there is no way you don't get tabled. The most common thing to run with AdLance is summoningseer 2 Wraithknights and jetbikes. Again no way for you to avoid combat with a Wraithknight and only 1 unit that is any sort to them whilst the summoningseer ensures they outscore you as your army is forced to hide from the AdLance.

As for the Gravstar how do you call Draigo out? Remembering that Loth will most likely also be there with a 2++, Draigo will generally have a 2++ too normally two Librarians as well. So you're either challenging with the Lord in which Draigo accepts and takes all your AP2 or some else challenges and a libby laughs off the Ap3 attacks.

Yes the Grav cannons need 6s but 5 of them will do (assuming twin linked as they usually will be) 13.41 unsaved wounds to the unit. Your list just doesn't stand up to anything. What do you do to Nids? Dreadknights, mech guard, just any remotely competent list.

What top tier lists do you think you beat with this and how?

That's way too many wounds on your "math"hammer. 30 miss 10, reroll miss 3 hit 27. 27/6 4.5. I'll round to 5. 22/6 3.5. Again I'll round up. 9 wounds, before invulns/fnp. And if their star IS that big, they won't assault with it. With a star that big, they can't play the objective game. They have at mist six units on the board, including knights w/out teleporters. Big censtar isn't a competitive thing.

I think you forgot Hurricane bolters, my maths is correct. I'm not saying he will assault with the star, he doesn't have to. Cool you obviously don't play competitively nor do you want advice to make your list competitive (I mean thinking a list with literally nothing to hurt AV13+ is laughable in a competitive scene, even ignoring the domination of Knights).

Good luck with your list. I hope it does what you want it to. My advice is to not put competitive in the title of your lists if you don't understand nor want to be part of that scene.

Lol, two things.

First, you haven't offered one single solution, or commented on other ideas I've had, like chain fist terminators.

Second, in your math, you said thirty shots, which is five grav cannons. Not grav plus hurricanes.

Third, thinking one power fist on a three wound guy is enough to make you win vs adlance, keep playing against six year olds.

Where exactly did I mention 30 shots? You have to accept the faults in the list before I can offer solutions. Chainfiust Terminators solve little, 1 chain fist in a Termicide squad in multiples could start to help. Where did I ever say 1 power fist on a 3 wound model would win against an AdLance?

No mention of hurricane bolters, even clues that you weren't considering them as hurricane bolters are already twin linked.

I expected you to know what weapons 5 Grav Centurions had given you run a Gravstar... But hey that's just me, I know what weapons are in the units I use, evidently you don't.

Why would you need whole equations? I gave the scenario and the result. The fact you didn't even know that Grav Cents have hurricane bolters speaks volumes. But good luck with your list.

I'd lose one bike squad and buy meltas all around. No anti tank is gonna suck for an assault army. You need something to pry open the tin cans before you charge
