I have noted that Rhino has a pop smoke feature. Is there a piece of equipment I can keep in the rear to do the same / similar. My beat guess is mounting my rear defense in a third rhino just to use it. But thats alot just for what I want. Was gonna hq with librarian so I can twin link TFCs (fielding two)

Bunker?

Can you stick a TFC in an imperial bunker? Unsure on the rules. Pretty sure the model would fit.

Edit: VSG's?

Hmmm I had not been looking into static emplacements. I've heard they are expensive pointswise. But I will definatly consider it as a solution. To the internet AWAY. Or maybe they have a book on the subject at the library.

These days the fortification rules can be found in the Stronghold Assault book. They used to be in the 6th ed rulebook, but were dropped. SA was also an update to the 6th building rules, but now it’s just Codex: Fortifications. Some of the newer bunkers and fortifications come with rules in the boxes IIRC. The only one I ever picked up was the older Aegis Defense Line. The quad-gun got a bit of a nerf in the change to 7th, but it’s still an inexpensive way to bring your own cover if you are worried about your backfield gunline.

TFCs are generally OK on their own. The techmarine gunner can reinforce a ruin, so make sure there is one on the table and stick him there. Between the T7, armor saves, and cover it should take a serious amount of fire to take them out.

pretty sure you can't transport artillery and buildings are basically stationary transports with some extra rules and another damage table.

You cannot stick a TFC in a bunker.

You can however stick a rhino in front of it. When it is your movement phase move the rhino out of the way. When it is your shootingphase, shoot the TFC then turbo boost the rhino back in front of it. Or just stick it in a reinforced ruin (via the techmarine) for a 3+ cover save against ap3 or better.

bolster defense dude. 3+ cover and 2+ save T7 makes you pretty safe from any weapon in the game. They are gonna shoot you and you are gonna get a save. Bolster Defense is such a good ability that I build around it. Works great with devestators or TLLC rocket centurians. Gives you a nice firebase to dish out pain. Typically if you have units in 3+ cover - they get ignored the entire game until the AP3/2 templates come in range - be advise these should be your priority targets. Something else I like to do with this dev unit is take a razor back (with just TL HB a rhino works too but for a few extra points you get a TL HB) and use it to block LOS from poentially troublesome units that ignore your cover.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Oh thank you. Heard tfc no good for anti air. Can the razorback be geared for that in addition to this defense roll? Or is that another can of ork spores?

You can’t fire blasts at aircraft, so the TFC is indeed useless as a AA platform.

Razorbacks can contribute to AA fire by virtue of putting a few TL’d shots in the air. It’s not optimal, but if you do it enough you may shoot something down. If you are concerned about flyers I’d recommend getting one of ours, both the raven and the talon are solid birds. If you don’t like the idea of flyers, the stalker/hunter is not a lot of points and can work. Lastly, there are a number of fortifications that have AA guns on them.
