Hello all,
I've been into warhammer for 21 years, since 2nd edition 40k and I think 3rd or 4th fantasy (whatever the starter set was with high elves and goblins). Back when White Dwarf had value and battle reports were more than just a photo shoot/advertisement.
My armies are 5500 salamanders, 1500 dark angels, 3500 orks, 4500 eldar, 3000 death guard, 2200 tau, 4000 guard with a little Inquisition, 3000 necrons, 3500 skaven, 5000 dwarfs, 3000 high elves, 2500 orcs & gobbos, 2500 ogres, 3000 chaos warriors/beastmen, necromunda van saar and escher, space hulk, dreadfleet, heroquest, although only the orks are fully completed. I have a bit of a collecting habit.
I haven't played fantasy in a while and I have whatever edition came before the current one.
I stopped keeping up with the current edition of 40k at the end of 5th. I got the dark vengeance starter set and was not impressed with the rule changes. It seems you just pile your models onto the table and then you need a broom and dustpan to sweep them off fast enough. I guess it sells more models that way. I'm all for bigger games with bigger models (and the new big stuff is fantastic looking) but all that stuff belongs in an old game called epic 40k at a much smaller scale. My group plays a modified 5th edition (modified vehicle rules, deep strike, sweeping advances, cover gives hit modifiers, wound allocation) with some bits of 4th(line of site) and 6th/7th(hull points, flyers). Plus the fact that it would cost $500 just to update my rule set.
The fluff/background of 40k is second to none. Love the grimdark.
Mostly I am in the proposed rules and general 40k forums.
The rhinosaur name is an old Soundgarden song from 1996. Some of the lyrics are my sig.
see you around.
